MILAN, Italy (AP) - New Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has left out all but one of the Azzurri's World Cup winning squad for Wednesday's friendly against Croatia.

Marco Amelia - Italy's third choice goalkeeper during the World Cup - was the only player to make Donadoni's 22, announced Saturday.

The star omissions were expected after Donadoni said Friday that the physical condition of those who played in Germany "is not and cannot be 100 percent."

In a new look squad blending youth with experience, Donadoni named seven debutantes: defenders Giulio Falcone and Christian Terlizzi, midfielders Gennaro Delvecchio, Massimo Gobbi, Stefano Morrone, Angelo Palombo, and striker Tommaso Rocchi.

Wednesday's game against Croatia - to be played in the Tuscan seaside city of Livorno - will be Italy's first since winning the World Cup in Germany last month, and Donadoni's first in charge.

It is also the team's only warmup ahead of qualifiers for the 2008 European Championship.

Donadoni, 42, a former international midfielder, succeeded Marcello Lippi as Italy's coach last month. Lippi resigned shortly after guiding Italy to a fourth World Cup title.

The World Champions open their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign in a home game against Lithuania in Naples on Sept. 2. France, Ukraine, Scotland, Georgia and Faeroe Islands are the other teams in its Group B.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Marco Amelia (Livorno), Flavio Roma (Monaco).

Defenders: Daniele Bonera (Milan), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Giulio Falcone (Sampdoria), Manuel Pasqual (Fiorentina), Christian Terlizzi (Palermo), Luciano Zauri (Lazio), Cristian Zenoni (Sampdoria).

Midfielders: Massimo Ambrosini (Milan), Gennaro Delvecchio (Sampdoria), Massimo Gobbi (Fiorentina), Fabio Liverani (Fiorentina), Stefano Morrone (Livorno), Angelo Palombo (Sampdoria), Franco Semioli (Chievo).

Forwards: Andrea Caracciolo (Palermo), David Di Michele (Palermo), Antonio Di Natale (Udinese), Mauro Esposito (Cagliari), Cristiano Lucarelli (Livorno), Tommaso Rocchi (Lazio).

The good thing is that we have a Coppa game day before the friendly Italia-Croatia and none of our guys except Chiellini is called up.We can use everyone else for the game against Martina.

That's what isha was talking about, during the serie B games there is no pause for the National team games,so we will not be able to play some games in serie B with our strongest squad.

By the way Forza Azzurri!!!!!

Frankly I'm scared of the teams we'll field in those occasions. :scared:
We have not only many senior internationals, but also a lot of U21s.

1 Balzaretti Federico Defence 1981
2 Bartolucci Giovanni Defence 1984
3 Birindelli Alessandro Defence 1974

4 Bojinov Valeri Attack 1986
5 Buffon Gianluigi Goal-keeper 1978
7 Camoranesi Mauro German Midfield 1976

8 Chiellini Giorgio Defence 1984
9 Chiumiento Davide Midfield 1984
10 De Ceglie Paolo Midfield 1986
11 Del Piero Alessandro Attack 1974
12 Giannichedda Giuliano Midfield 1974
13 Guzman Tomas Attack 1983
15 Kapo Olivier Midfield 1980
16 Kovac Robert Defence 1974
17 Legrottaglie Nicola Defence 1976
19 Marchionni Marco Midfield 1980
20 Marchisio Claudio Midfield 1986
21 Masiello Andrea Defence 1986
22 Mirante Antonio Goal-keeper 1983
23 Nedved Pavel Midfield 1972
25 Palladino Raffaele Attack 1984
26 Paro Matteo Midfield 1983
27 Piccolo Felice Defence 1983
28 Rossi Andrea Defence 1986
29 Scarzanella Claudio Goal-keeper 1986
30 Sculli Giuseppe Attack 1981
31 Trezeguet David Attack 1977
33 Tudor Igor Defence 1978

34 Urbano Orlando Defence 1984
36 Volpato Rey Attack 1986
37 Zalayeta Marcelo Attack 1978

u forgot to add chiellini, he'll be at the euros at full international, most likely replacing grosso, who is bound to f*ck up at inter, and i think balzaretti will soon be a full international

I know, in fact I put them in the "could be called" section.

We'd have:
2 Bartolucci Giovanni Defence 1984
3 Birindelli Alessandro Defence 1974
12 Giannichedda Giuliano Midfield 1974
17 Legrottaglie Nicola Defence 1976
22 Mirante Antonio Goal-keeper 1983
26 Paro Matteo Midfield 1983
27 Piccolo Felice Defence 1983
30 Sculli Giuseppe Attack 1981
34 Urbano Orlando Defence 1984
+Belardi

And what is left of the not-blue ones.

Bonera is "injured" and replaced by Gamberini.

A miracle will happen and you'll see Bonera in Milan's next CL game.
