I convocati per l’amichevole di Messina. Tornano Buffon e Poulsen

Dopo tre mesi tornano a disposizione Gigi Buffon e Christian Poulsen.

Call-ups for the Messina friendly. Buffon and Poulsen are back

First match of 2009 (even though not official) and first call-ups by Caludio Ranieri. For the friendly match on Tuesday afternoon in Messina (18:00hrs, live on La7), against Monaco, the Juventus coach called-up 23 players.

After three months Gigi Buffon and Christian Poulsen are once again available. Salihamidzic has also recovered from the fever which made him miss Sunday’s training session. As per schedule, Chiellini will be allowed to rest following a muscle strain, however this will not make him miss Sunday’s match against Siena. Even though they have recovered completely and are practically ready to play Tiago and Camoranesi will remain in Turin together with Trezeguet and Knezevic. Three primavera players were also called up.

Below is the complete list of call-ups:

1 Buffon
4 Mellberg
6 Zanetti
7 Salihamidzic
8 Amauri
9 Iaquinta
10 Del Piero
11 Nedved
12 Chimenti
13 Manninger
18 Poulsen
19 Marchisio
20 Giovinco
21 Grygera
22 Sissoko
27 Ekdal
28 Molinaro
29 De Ceglie
32 Marchionni
33 Legrottaglie
35 Esposito
41 Ariaudo
43 De Paola

This should be a walk in the park - Monaco is not as strong as season's past and the Old Lady seems to get stronger as the season wears on. Do I smell a second half Scudetto push?

I was really trying to resist such a 'fantasy' - Inter are too strong. And Juve didn't perform well at the San Siro. I hope it served as a lesson for how to improve or approach such a potentially decisive match-up. After all it's the three points in those big games which make the difference if you want to fight for #1 spot.

Personally I was very skeptical during Sept/October. However, Juve's recent form especially after the Real Madrid games, has been convincing.

A Scudetto push is possible, but I can't see Inter dropping so many points. (at least not 2001/2002 5th of May style :touched: )

In any case, the team is making progress, and if not this year, there's next year + player improvements, Ranieri's experience and influence + at least one or two superstar name additions to the squad (i.e. Diego!!!). Ranieri's team are improving, albeit is slowly and gradually. Juve are still on course in 3 competitions at this point of the season, so there shouldn't be a lack of motivation.

Sorry..getting a little carried away/off topic, but I've never been so emotionally proud of a Juve side in the 15 years I've supported them. No matter how this season ends, I'm very much impressed by the fighting spirit in 2008/2009 Juventus!!! :touched:

All we (myself included) do is bitch about the "Succko's", "Ruinieri's" and "Molinaro's"......it's time we give credit where credit is due!!!!! FORZA JUVE!!!!!!!!
