Among the spectators this evening for the third of the bianconeri’s pre-season friendlies were Juventus club president, Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, sporting director, Alessio Secco, and new head coach of the victorious Italian national team, Roberto Donadoni. Also present were Donadoni’s Under-21 counter parts, Pierluigi Casiraghi and Gianfranco Zola, and ex-Juventus goalie, Stefano Tacconi.
Tonight’s game, against Serie B opponents Spezia, saw a return to action for Pavel Nedved, Robert Kovac and Igor Tudor, back in bianconeri colours after this summer’s World Cup in Germany.
The game began with both sides pressing hard for an opening but it was Juventus who threatened first with a free-kick just outside the area, Paro’s effort just curling over the top left hand corner of the goal (10’).
On 12’ Balzaretti raced through on the right wing from a Marchionni pass but was unable to pick out a team mate with his deep cross.
On 22’ the bianconeri finally made the break through; a precise corner from Paro was volleyed into the net from six yards out by the right foot of Giorgio Chiellini (1-0).
On 25’ Balzaretti found himself some space twenty yards out on the left but he dragged his shot wide of the far post.
On 30’, Marchionni was slipped through on the right by Bojinov but his low, inviting cross was just a yard too far in front of the awaiting strikers.
Juventus continued to apply the pressure and were awarded with another free kick just outside the area on 36’, this time on the right hand side; Paro’s teasing outswinger was met by the head of captain Birindelli, forcing a diving save from the Spezia keeper.
Marchionni caused all sorts of problems on 40’ when he cut the ball back across the box from deep on the right, but the Spezia defenders somehow managed to bundle the ball out of the path of the lurking Zalayeta and into safety.
On 43’, Spezia levelled the scores, Alessi’s free-kick from deep on the left headed home by Massimiliano Varricchio (1-1).
Didier Deschamps brought on Robert Kovac, Igor Tudor and Pavel Nedved on at half time for Legrottaglie, Birindelli and Guzman, and the new look bianconeri scored right away on 47’, Bojinov finding space in the area and slotting the ball home from three yards out (2-1).
The goal lifted the team as Juventus began dominating the midfield, probing for another opening, and on 63’, Pavel Nedved marked his return to the side in style, smashing the ball past the keeper from the ouside left of the box after a clever Marchionni lay off (3-1).
On 73’ Bojinov was replaced up front by Ruben Olivera.
The bianconeri were now finding more room to work in and on 75’ Marchionni was brought down in the area after a neat run. Olivera stepped up to take the penalty, coolly slotting the ball home low and to the keeper’s right (4-1).
As the sun went down over Rovereto, Deschamps made further changes, bringing on Kapo and Marchisio for Marchionni and Zanetti on 80’.
The bianconeri kept up the pressure and won a free kick on the outside left of the box after Kapo’s great run was brought to a halt illegaly (89’); Olivera tried his luck but blazed the ball wide in what was to be the last action of the match.

good to see the likes of balza and chiellini playing well and lifting the team with marhcionni...neddy adds the needed class to the midfield, which is great.
As we all suspected tudor and kovac did well in the back and looks like one of them or both of them will be our two CBs, sorry legro but from wat i read and saw u r not the most reliable one.
olivera played in the front line for a while and bojinov was active and scored which is good, looks like paro is doing well with zanetti which is very promising.
We need a target man, and DD should forget abt anything and focus on that IF trezi is leaving.

but one player who is really catching my eye is matteo paro, i dont remember watching much of him in the past but from wat am reading over the past few weeks he looks to be on of DD favorite players. His playing style has a bit of class aparently for a DM with a sweet foot for kicking dead balls. I hope he gets a major role in this team for years to come.
