Never before has Claudio Gabetta wished for the summer to pass so quickly. The surreal end to last season, when the Giovanissimi Nazionali (U-15s) were eliminated from the Scudetto finals following a grave error by Inter in another match, hasn't been fully absorbed yet. But the best remedy for it is to get cracking again on the pitch.
Having bid farewell to the 1997 generation (now spread between Ivano Della Morte's Allievi and Giuseppe Angelini's Allievi B), Gabetta heads into his third season at Juve. He welcomes another wave of talent (born in 1998), who will set off on a new adventure hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year's crop.
The Under-15s have been training in Vinovo for a few days now as they undergo a battery of pre-season tests ahead of their training camp, which starts on Thursday 16 August in Valle Pesio. Two key summer fixtures for the Giovanissimi Nazionali take place between the end of August and the beginning of September: the Memorial Scirea and the 'Ale&Ricky sempre nel cuore' tournament. The lads will then get stuck into league action on 16 September with one target firmly in their sights: the Scudetto title that their predecessors were so unfairly denied a shot at just a few months ago.
