I would prefer to see a decent Lb coming, or a solid backup/challenger for Lichsteiner. But Guerin can be very serious quality. he would make our possible midfield trio one of potentially the best in europe. Its MArchisio's present role, which seems most clearly at threat. Guarin as the more offensive than defensive central midfielder, with scope to attack and support the attack, as well as hustle. Pirlo as the mainly deep lying regista, with Vidal buzzing around him, gattuso-in-his-prime style. Could be so good to outweigh the dangerously shallow depth of our defensive potency.
its what i have been saying all along. if people think otherwise then they havent watched alot of guarin. his movement is better, shots are definitely better and his ability to 'own' mids and defenders better..and he's strong...if he comes, leave it up to the natural selection that marchisio will settle under him in the pecking order in the coach's and the fans eyes...

With the exception of Vidal, we don't have a strong history of signing good CMs outside of Italy (recently).

Sissoko.
Poulsen.
Tiago.

Hopefully if this guy comes he actually makes a long term impact.

guarin has had considerable exposure to a level of ball with colombia and porto that marchisio hasnt sniffed at yet
With Colombia?

Then why aren't we scouting more and more in Colombia since our current italian players haven't had a chance to sniff at yet? Didn't realize the Portuguese league was so fantastic either.

Everyone is replacable, even Buffon. If a better player comes along, you should get knocked out of the team.
:sergio:

Guarin isn't better than Marchisio, i don't know how can you conclude that he is. And even if he turn out to be a great MF, the player he should be replacing is Vidal not Cheesio, because Claudio has been more effective and vital and clutch....than Vidal even if they play different roles.

FFS, you want to replace our best player in the first half of the season
