Not the best at 1vs1's
Tough game for him today, he has done well at 1vs1's in the past but was up against a cocky winger today.

You could tell his head went down after the goal and he needed to come off. Hopefully he won't dwell on today.

But you have to remember that he is only 18, had never played professional football until this season and is naturaly a centre-back.

People cannot shout to give young guys a chance and not expect them to have a bad game here and there.

Should have subsituted out earlier, right after he got the yellow card.. still I'd like to see him get more playing time.

He did fine for 30 minutes, dealt with Alvarez well, then Alvarez's superior experience told, he stepped back and dragged Sorensen all over the place. When you have a 6'4" 18 year old centre back who has come from Danish youth football straight to Serie A playing right back against a skillful winger as fast as an Olympic sprinter then he is going to be in trouble at times.

As soon as he got booked he was a liability then and had to be subbed but I refuse to criticise Sorensen directly as he has done a sterling job in the circumstances and will be an excellent defender if his early promise is anything to go by. I also won't pretend that it doesn't cause us problems at times, eventually you have to make a decision, you give young players more leeway but if you are in a desperate situation challenging at the top or bottom of a league it takes a brave coach to not automatically pick more experienced players, that's symptomatic of Serie A.

As it stands I don't see who we have that is any better, he'll grow into the team and when he does have games where he is really struggling, which inevitably he will have again in the future, then Delneri has a bench for a reason.

Well what would you expect from members of this forum? A defender usually plays their best football when they are roughly 10 years older than this guy is, and people are already barking out to loan him to Siena. Total nonsense because he should start at RB ahead of anyone we've got, and when they (Motta, Grygera) play then everyone will be crying their faces off wanting Sørensen to start again.

Not to mention he is learning a whole new position.
Yes! He isn't ready yet, but doing much better than Grygera and Motta already. Some people only focus on one goal, and forget what he did the rest of the match. he stopped the attacks many times before it even started, from the center of the field, did you notice that? His crosses aren't good thou, and I don't know if he can improve. But the thing is he is so young, and that what amazes me. Defenders at his age suck most of the time.

How many times has Bonucci been beaten by the endline?

How many times has Motta been beaten by a quick winger?

How many times has Grygera made a game-changing error?

No need to bash Freddy. He is just a back CB who is what, 18 years old?
We don't have any other choice than him, Motta and Grygera is two big disasters. Let us buy a proper RB and Sørensen gets time to evolve into a better player.

Of course.

But that's the knee-jerkicity around here.

One mistake but a decent performance. The mistake he made can be attributed to inexperience, sometimes he comes up short when taking on a fast winger and unfortunate for him the very few fuck ups he has result in a goal.

He still is our best option to start right back for THIS season but needs to be loaned out next year to simply gain more experience, because next year we need more than washed out old players or massively talented but raw in experience youngsters.

When he comes back the year after that he will be better and killer.

Motta in 15min did more damages than the goal we conceded because of Sorensen.

Sorensen with one leg looks more normal as a footballer than Motta.
