Zidane doesn't have much on Lampard. Lampard has everything. The only thing Zidane may have over Lampard is losing hair quicker
Heresy!!!

Even the name "Frank"! What kind of name is that for a top notch footballer compared to say Zinedine Zidane, Andriy Schevchnko, Ronaldinho...all these names just roll off the tongue, while Frank Lampard sounds like what you will call your local Plumber or Electrician.

Why is his name important?
But Zidane is much better though.....

I can't take this. What utter nonsense from the Ch€£$ki brigade. I mean, what did y'all drink to make you think that Frank "Two-Left-Feet" Lampard is better than Zinedine "The Professor" Zidane? Premium vodka perhaps?

Lampard will never win the European Player of the Year award unless Roman rigs the ballot. And as for World Footballer of the Year, just forget that one. How about the World Cup? Has he even smelt that one? The European Championships? Can he ever dream of scoring a goal like Zidane's in the Champions League Final? I'm not a Real Madrid fan, but I jumped off my seat that night just the same.

Personally, I've always liked Lampard. I think he's a good player, and for me, his most redeeming feature is that he wasn't purchased by the billions of Roman Abramovich. However, the fact remains, and will always remain that he is not fit to wipe Zidane's boots even today.

Lampard is miles better than Zidane at this point in time. In fact I'd go as far as saying he's probably the best player in the world (maybe ex. Ronaldinho) at present

on his prime zidane was the best at his position and nobody could have beaten him in that he dribbled players with the ease, he scored great goal he was a complete midfielder, saing that, lampard in my opinion has a great foot and scores some wild goals but i see this as mixing vodka and alcahol, were lampard is the vodka but zidane is the alcahol

Excuse me? What are you saying? Perhaps Robert Huth is way better than Franco Baresi as well, after all, what has Baresi done in the last 10 years eh? This thread is about Lampard being better than Zidane EVER was. That is impossible to swallow even if you're in the Matrix. Hell, it's impossibilities like this that made people wake up.

Lampard will NEVER be better than Zidane simply becos Zidane belonged in a class all his own in his prime.

No, its about who is the better player right here and now, between two current pros.

Your Huth-Baresi argument doesn't hold any water either, one has long gone and retired and the other is a pretty much unproven up and comer. Lamps is the finished article and one of the best players on the planet. There's no reason he shouldn't be compared to Zidane at the minute. Of course ZZ in his prime was the better player, having said that Lampard is much more efficient... I can't remember ZZ ever scoring/creating as many goals as Frank is!

Agreed, Zizou never scored as many goals in his prime as Frank has right now, but the simple fact remains that while in his prime Zizou sure scored a helluva lot of important goals and certainly created many more.

As for the Baresi-Huth thing, it's just to get a little more perspective on things.

Also, we cannot forget that age has crept up on Zidane, and he's picked up a lot of injuries this season. Still, I'd pick a prime Zidane over any other player.

The likes of Lampard's what makes EPL the BLAND league that it is. Runs like a machine, lurks around the box to unleash a thunderbolt. No finesse, only one-two passes. The JM doctrine is to have long ball to the massive forwards to harass the opposing defence and the drop off from the headers for FL to thunder home.....truly disgusting.

The guy has played 200+ consecutive games...

I'm seriously beginning to ponder about steroid use, along with Joe cole. Put FL, side-by-side with Kaka, with his sleekness, Clarence seedorf with his creativity... and you'd forget about him. Zidane is not as influential anymore, he's 33!

He's won it all.....but does FL do justice , entertainment, value for money as Zizou does.....the difference is clear!!

you cannot argue the fact he is scoring goals, creating and generally marshalling arguebley the strongest team in the world...how can he not be up there. He may not have the flashy skill of zidane, but he has far more work rate and much more aggressive movement.

    :howler:

Makes you wonder how much of the EPL you actually watch. How can you possibly call it bland? Man Unitd lost 4-1 to Boro, Chelsea won 4-2 yesterday, Sunderland 1-4 Portsmouth, Wigan winning 1-0 in the last minute (newly promoted side are now in 2nd place) refereeing errors, penalties, saves, howlers, stadia that are practically always full. Its simply an argument you cannot win. You may say it lacks the beauty of the Spanish game, the tactical nous of serie A but it is easily more exciting than either imo. Teams actually play to win games, when you're 3-0 up you still want to get 4 - thats how the game should be played.

Jose Mourinho's doctrine is to hoof the ball up to the massive forwards? Well first of all Chelsea play with one up front so you might want to drop the plural there (goes to show how much you watch, yet again). Secondly Chelsea are regularly scoring 3, 4 goals a game, and winning the vast majority comfortably. Who are you to criticise a winning formula, and for gods sake you claim to be a Juve fan, we're arguably the most boring side in existence!

How are "running like a machine" and "unleashing thunderbolts" bad points to lampard's game anyway? His fitness levels are phenomenal and he takes care of himself. Big deal, he must be on drugs then  what about his awesome shot-making ability? Should he refrain from shooting to stop the game being any more "bland?"

Don't you realise how utterly ridiculous your argument is? Entertainment value.. what do you expect a Maradona style goal every game? Get a grip! Its about winning football! Show me a central workaholic midfielder anywhere else in a big league that already has 11 goals to his name this season? A player that can take penalties, freekicks, head the ball, srike from distance, has a huge range of passing, hardly ever gets booked, sets up or scores in virtually every game? YOU CAN'T!

And why can't he be on steroids? Get one thing straight, I never said he is on steroids, I said I am beginning to consider steroid use.

If Lampard is so entertaining, then why is it that everyone is calling his team boring?

Back in the day I knew people who used to tune on or go to matches just to watch Zizou play. How many people tune in to Chelsea to watch just Lampard?

And why does your Platini remind me of Mourinho?
