FC Porto have agreed to let Juventus sign Francisco Conceicao for €32m, split into four instalments of €8m each, higher than the €30m release clause.


Instead, Fabrizio Romano reported FC Porto have accepted the offer of €30m to be paid over four instalments, an even longer schedule than the three suggested earlier today by O Jogo.

According to O Jogo and Sky Sport Italia, the full fee paid is actually going to be €32m in four instalments of €8m each.
This also meant that Francisco Conceicao had to provide written confirmation he would not take the full 20 per cent cut of the transfer fee that he was owed if the move was completed outside of the release clause.

It was reported this morning that he had agreed to give up half that sum, so only take €3m rather than €6m.

He joined Juventus last summer on a one-season loan at a cost of €10m that did not have an option to make it permanent built in. built in.

So despite recent media reports, I am not surprised in the slightest we paid over for the benefit of spreading the payments over four years.

All sources claimed we’d pay less than 30 mil - just this morning they were talking about 23-25 mil and in the end we end up paying more…. But if we sell players it’s the other way around

Yes, probably negotiation about the installment. Porto really know how to sell. They wont really use him anyway but after his loan for us there a lot club in PL interested. A club like Wolves and Everton

Because technically we didn’t trigger the clause. So instead of paying the €30m in one hit (which is how these clauses are activated) we negotiated a deal to pay them a standard transfer fee over four years and gave them slightly more in the process to help sweeten the deal for them.

This still works out better for our balance sheet in the short term and will free up funds elsewhere for other players I assume.

It’s increasingly looking like Sancho is the Nico replacement. Our latest offer is €17m, I can see us getting over the line for something like €20m imo. We clearly see Sancho as one of the AMs behind striker and obviously not as a wingback type of player. So that leaves us with 4 players vying for 2 positions (Yildiz, Chico, Sancho, Koop), maybe Adzic too if he isn’t sent on loan?

We really should be looking for an LCB and CM asap as well tbh. Not to mention an RWB to deputise for Costa or vice versa.

I feel like there’s no reason to get worked up over this, we got him for the right price regardless.

Most rumors were saying from the very beginning that we were always going to pay the release clause as previously agreed, only that we did not want to pay it all in one transaction and instead asked Porto to accept the payments in installments, which obviously took some time to fully define.
