Does it really matter whether we get an option to buy or not? He has a release clause next season that we can activate if he performs well, essentially giving us the same opportunity an option to buy would have. However, neither scenario protects us from the risk of him signing with another team if that’s what he desires, so I don’t see much difference.

either way, we’ll be back next season negotiating that release clause, with hopefully the conversations happening much earlier.

Why not take their request for total €30m loan + obligation before ?
Why take the obligation if you can have an option / release clause to pay?

So to try and make some sense of this, basically he has a release clause of €45M right now and we decided to pay a close to €10M dry loan now to delay it and pay the same release clause of €45M next summer in case he does well this season while paying also the extra €10M for the loan now (or later negotiate it for less if he doesn’t do great here).

Or is it even worst as in the €45M release clause won’t be valid next summer which means if he does well here anyone can outbid us later anyway, or otherwise we’ve just wasted €10M on a dry loan.

That’s not at all what it sounds like tbh.
The release clause is 30 mil before 15/7/25...

Basically we are bringing him on loan with an “option to buy” (if we pay the realest clause) of 45M

So at the end of the day we could be end up paying more than 50M for him.

If he performs here technically someone else could also activate the clause. That's basically the difference.

They can activate it with Porto but the player must agree.

Now personally I just can't believe we'd get cucked to that degree by Mendes. Also considering the kid wanted to come here and if he explodes it's because he did it here with Motta.

So realistically how many better scenarios would even present themselves to Mendes if he even wanted to cuck us?

I’m reading that the clause of 30M ends in next July… but only to go up to 45M!!!

:oops2::oops2::oops2:
It goes up in the middle of July...if he's good we can pay that clause before. Also Di Natale reports his wages are 2.5mil € (which are included in the deal)

If we end up buying him this will look like 4.5mil loan + 2.5mil bonuses + 30mil "obligation" .

I say it's a good deal...

Agreed, but wouldn’t that still be a possibility even if we had an option?
I don't really know what the agreements are with option. I assume there's a stronger binding with the player.

The clause is there for everyone anyway so it makes no difference at all... It will depend on the will of the player.
That's not true with obligation, and most loans end with an obligation.

Doesn't help us financially. Another kick the can down the road situation.

I guess we have limited options cuz we're broke, but also seems like we worked ourselves into a corner
provided the money Junes spent elsewhere doesn't flop than the money next summer should be spread less thin across fewer positions, i'm sure we will have the funds to buy out or replace Coencaicao

though unless this guy is already a serious baller, 10mil is waaay too much for a 1 year loan

What i I replied to earlier was a post(probably mistranslation) that was suggesting it had a release clause of €30M until July but that now it went up which was confusing….

Now indeed more reliable sources clarified it that it’s valid till July next year, which obviously makes more sense.
