Brilliant football by Monaco against Marseille today. Was mainly watching the Sevilla-Real game, but whenever i switched on to Monaco's game, they were playing some entertaining counter-attacking football. Nene and Park in particular ripped Marseille a new one.

L'OM despite their signings do not look like title contenders at all. The Ligue is going to be between Lyon and Bordeaux this season.

Police seize documents regarding Ribery transfer

Police have searched the headquarters of Olympique Marseille and seized documents relating to Franck Ribery's transfer from Galatasaray to OM in 2005.

Marseille prosecutors launched an investigation last year after Ribery's former agent, Bruno Heiderscheid, filed a complaint against the player and Marseille for alleged irregularities related to Ribery's transfer from the Turkish side.

According to L'Equipe, police seized various accounting documents and files in order to check if fund transfers had been made between OM and Galatasaray and also between OM and Heiderscheid.

Ribery joined Marseille, having opted out of his deal with Galatasaray in May 2005, in order to return to France after having gone over four months without wages. He also fired Heiderscheid a few weeks before signing for Marseille, before joining agents Alain Migliaccio and Jean-Pierre Bernès.

Galatasaray appealed against the move, claiming €10 million in compensation, but the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS), ruled that Ribery had terminated his contract with the Turkish club at the end of the 2004-05 season on just grounds,

The French forward then left OM for Bayern Munich in 2007, on a four-year deal for a then club-record €25 million. He has since become one of the most sought-after players in the world, with Real Madrid reported to have offered around €60 million for his services this summer.

Watched the second half of Lyon - Sochaux today. Sochaux beat Lyon at the Stade Gerland:shocked:

But really, Lyon aren't the superhouse they used to be. They should have bought a CB in the summer, but stupidly made 5 signings, none of them what they needed most, which is a CB. They played most of this season with either Bodmer or Toulalan as a CB. Today Toulalan played there, and they paid the price for that, he is obviously not comfortable playing there, the second goal was a result of Toulalan leaving space behind him.

But watch out for Lyon's new young forward, Yanis Tafer. Promising talent indeed, sick left foot that kid has

He's blown hot and cold this season. He isn't as prolific as he was last season, but he's always been a hard worker for his team and done well in the lone striker role. Toulouse haven't helped him though as they have been extremely average whenever i watched them play this season.

The only player who deserves credit this season is Moussa Sissoko, he has come up with some absolutely world class performances this season. One of them was yesterday's game against PSG, where he was MOM hands down, hassling the opponent and getting forward whenever possible to help out the attack. Brilliant player, he is Toulouse's star as far as i'm concerned.

Well Gillot did say before the game that whatever result they got would be for Charlie Davies. I guess that explains that extra bit of motivation they had in that game

Loris will start as GK. That CB position is going to be between Escude and Abidal.

France will probably line up in a 4-2-3-1.

The lone striker role will be between Gignac and Benzema. Henry will probably start on the left, with Ribery on the right and Gourcuff upfront.

Domenech hasn't been stable on one tactical setup, or one formation of players. So anything could happen from now till then.

Very big blow for France. Ribery is the creative spark in the team and imo France's best player.

Who takes his place depends on the tactical setup chosen by R.Domenech. If it's a 4-2-3-1 then Govou will most probably take his place on the right(I think this is the most likely scenario)

Until when will he be out?

He's certainly missing the match vs Bordeaux, which is good because a Bordeaux win will be great for Juve. But i'm hoping he'll be out for Juve-Bayern too.
Am i asking too much? :D

At least one month. If he chooses to have an operation he will be out for 3 months. However, it would considerably diminish the possibility that the injury would return.

Govou is good but no where near the same level as Ribery.
Definitely not. Govou is a shadow of his former self.

Ribery will be out for a month.

really bad news for france, if they have a bad day he's the mostly player to pull something out of a hat.

@ fred-who do you think would be better for the lone role, benzema or gignac?

Benzema has been disappointing in most of his games for France. Gignac on the other hand has impressed whenever given the chance. I'd take Gignac to be honest. Another thing he has going for him is that he is used to playing the lone striker role with Toulouse.
