Yup. They're keen on signing him after missing out on Lisandro Lopez. They're also linked to their former player Loic Remy. But Remy isn't really the out and out striker that they are looking for.

Hoarau would be a very good signing for them.

Hmmmm Loïc Rémy was originally Lyon's player they loaned him out to Lens and then sold him after, interesting to see they want him back. Hoarau would be a good signing but that makes you wonder if Benzema is going to be sold by Aulas or not.

Yes he was Lyon's player originally. They sold him for 8M Euro's and now Nice want almost double that amount. So i doubt Lyon will really go after him, you know with him being their former player and all.

It looks like Benzema is leaving this summer. Hoarau would be a good replacement in that case imo. Not many strikers in the Ligue that are more able to replace Karim.

PSG and Sessegnon are in a dispute over the latters contract. PSG have some financial problems and are aiming to lower the wage structure. Sessegnon meanwhile wants parity with the top earners at the club.

He was their best player last season and one of the best in the Ligue. He was definitely one of the most entertaining players. Rumor says it, a couple of English clubs are on his trail. Would be a big blow for PSG to lose his services.

Indeed. Those are only rare cases such as Chel$ki who sold him for a couple million only to try and buy him back for £18m, yeah but with regard to Lyon Aulas is far too shrewd to bring him back. And yes, he should be a good replacement.

Btw, Fred, what happened to Bafétimbi Gomis? He made the Euro 2008 squad and played a bit there. Have Hoarau and Gignac overtaken him?

True. Sessegnon is key player in their buildup, I remember Chel$ki being linked with him during the January transfer window. It's ridiculous actually because PSG want to sign Vieira who would obviously then earn probably the most in the club after he transfers, but still refuse to give Sessegnon.. oh well.

St Etienne have been poor all season this year, and i think that has affected Gomis. Also their main creative outlet, Feindouno left the club. It was the partnership of Feindouno and Gomis that helped Gomis flourish. Last season, St Etienne's play was poor and predictable and they had almost no creativity in midfield. Gomis barely got any service. I think he should move to L'OM, PSG(if they sell Hoarau) or a team of that caliber, so that he can prove himself on a higher stage.

As for PSG, they're fucked if they lose their manager(Le Guen) and their star player(Sessegnon) in one summer. It's that simple.

It amuses me that Tony Kombouare has become a decent coach.

You just need to mention his name round Aberdeen and watch people shudder at the memory of him playing CB for us.

Never have I seen a person so determined to try overhead kicks in his own penalty area.

He did score against Rangers, though, so he wasn't all bad.

Oh I completly see what you mean. I agree he should move to a bigger club that St Etienne in France, because he a decent finsher, good in the air, not to mention his 'celebration'. He'd do good in L'OM I think, also I reckon he fits under the bracket of a 'DD Signing' so to say.

@ PSG, indeed their set to loose Landreau and Rothen as well so their squad's going to be weakened a lot.

He's a decent coach though, he did a very good job at Valenciennes, and has developed into a popular figure in the Ligue.

It's just surprising because usually you see some sort of leadership or organisational skills in a player that suggest he might succeed as a coach.

Kombouare showed nothing like that with Aberdeen.

Perhaps he was confused by your weird and heavy accents.

I lived 7 years in Glasgow, yet i still experience difficulty understanding your lot :D

Do you speak Gaelic btw?

There is a significant difference between Glaswegian and Aberdonian accents, so I wouldn't go lumping all Scottish accents together.

I don't. You have to go to the Highlands and Islands to find folk that speak Gaelic. I do have some distant relatives that live in the Western Isles and they speak it.

Bah, it's sad how a club can produce all these great players and linger in complete mediocrity. Someone made a list of players still active who used to play for Monaco.

Goalkeeper
——————-
Stephane PORATO (Xerez-Spain)
(ok, admittedly this is a weak point. what can I do, Barthez is retired.)

Defenders
——————-
MAICON (Inter Milan)
Rafael MARQUEZ (Barcelona)
Sebastien SQUILLACI (Lyon)
Patrice EVRA (Manchester United)

Midfielders
——————
Yaya TOURE (Barcelona)
John Arne RIISE (AS Roma)
Marcelo GALLARDO (River Plate)
Ludovic GIULY (Paris Saint-Germain)

Forwards
——————
David TREZEGUET (Juventus)
Thierry HENRY (Barcelona)

Manager: Arsene WENGER (Arsenal)

bench: Christian Panucci (AS Roma), Gael Givet (Blackburn), Hugo
Ibarra (Boca Juniors), Jerome Rothen (PSG), Jeremy Menez (AS Roma),
Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal), Marco Di Vaio (Bologna)
Of course Riise is a horrible eyesore and not all these players were "brought up" by the club in the sense that when they arrived at Monaco it was their biggest club yet. But for many it was -
Maicon (now commonly mentioned as the best right back in the world),
Evra (similar standing at left back quite recently),
Marquez (well a nobody at Barcelona in terms of talent but still they kept him all this time),
Toure (starter for Barcelona),
Giuly (strictly speaking his greatest achievements were at Monaco tho he played for bigger clubs),
Trez,
Henry,
Adebayor (not a genius but still in the top strikers in the league),
Rothen (completely wasted his career after Monaco).

There's one name missing that really hurts me though: Nonda :angry2:
