Looking at this made me so glad that the 1990s are long over. What an insidious, inane decade for slang and posturing.

I remember back in 1996, my housemates and I held a 1995 party in order to be among the first to immortalize the 90s with a dated retro theme party. The invitation flyer we made stated, "Please come in period attire."
