I'm wondering what you guys might think of this:

I'm playing for this football team, nothing grand, but not all that bad either. I've played for them for over 10 years and now I'm finally in the first team. I probably won't be a starter though, since they've apparently bought a number of players. Since I haven't got a contract or anything it's important for me whether or not we win, because if we don't, I don't really earn much. Not that I earn that much if we do win, but still.

Last year the team got promoted, so chances are we won't win a lot. Now when I'm not on the first eleven I'll have to play a lot of reserve games and sit on the bench, if selected, for the first team. I'm eightteen and I'm also going to university next year, which will probably mean I'll have interests besides football and won't be able to spend my entire weekend on it.

Should I still play for this team or should I go to a smaller team, where I'll be granted a starting place and will be able to spend a lot of time and things besides football, to keep in condition and try to return to a bigger team, next year or so, when I'm perhaps more capable of gaining a starting place?

You are still young i suggest you give it another season and see how it goes if things dont go better then you can move to a smaller team to get more playing time and form permitting attract other potential suitors or else you will be another recoba if you are talented that is.

It's just some small regional club really. And it's not like I earn much. 100 euros a game or so. When I was 14 R Antwerp FC, who ATM play in second division, really appreciated my technical skills, but they wouldn't come and get me because I was too frail according to them. Which IMO is pure crap, since I only was 14 and I would have had to play in the youth for at least 5 or 6 more years in which I would have gotten a lot stronger. A friend of mine plays for the reserves there, although it's unlikely he'll ever get to the first team.
