It appears that FIFA recounted the votes and ZIDANE won the FIFA 2006 world player award (according to Spanish newspaper MARCA)

Cannavaro now has to give the trophy back to ZIDAN and small celebration is expected to be held in Monaco and Zizou will be given the trophy;

Zizou got 2012 votes, Canna 1977 and Pirlo 715

Dec 28 appears to be Fools Day in Spain, so Canna should've been timely notified about the joke
