How do you defend eh?

My defending hasn't changed since fifa 09 to be honest

Mark the player YOU would pass to and cut off the strikers from support. force your opponent into making a high risk pass/ losing the ball. The only time I directly attack the playeris if he's close to my penalty area.

Good players will just run rings around you if you run at them. Let them come.

I just let them come for the most part, try to position myself so that they run into my players. Also, don't spam the tackle button, you gotta wait for the right moment and then tackle. This was less punishing in FIFA 17.

And I also replaced my super attacking midfield for something more defensive. Works like a charm. My back four is not that exposed on counters anymore.

My CDM and fullbacks are instructed to stay back while attacking btw.

I typically attack through one side (the left one, don't ask why, have no idea lol) having my LB set on normal support and my RB on staying back. CDM also stays back of course. Makes a back 3 + the CDM slotting in as LB should i lose the ball and get caught on the counter. Works great. Also my wingers stay up front all the time.

The biggest enemy in fifa is lack of patience really...like if you come up against a Pep wannabe Tiki taka faggot playing the ball up and down and left and right...so tempting to go forward and attack.

The need of everyone can play is the worst. Handicap, moral or whatever they put in place it makes everything a shit; but I have to agree that, like Axl would say, "just a little patience" would do cuz even when they give 89 min handicap to your rival, they always would give you an small window to do your thing, the problem is "I don't have any patience at all"... I get very frustrated and stop playing it for a couple of month and then the cycle starts again

For instance, I'm not gonna buy Fifa 18 till a couple of months more cuz right now I really hate Ultimate Team

I also came to the realization that CDMs still bomb forward (shit, maybe even more) if you instruct them to stay back while attacking so I just play a formation with 3 CMs (4321) and instruct my De Rossi to stay back while attacking. Works like a charm.

I swear De Rossi would join every goddamn attack as a CDM but he stays back a lot more as a CM with instructions.

Googled it and read that a lot of people were having the same problem and came across that solution.

Speaking of midfielders, I have 50k coins to spend on a new midfielder.

My current Serie A midfield consists of Valero - De Rossi - Allan.

I was thinking about replacing Allan with Marchisio so that I gain more technique and fluidity while retaining defensive prowess in midfield.

Ditto on the lack of patience, @DAiDEViL. Sometimes it's easy to piss me off and get my players out of position, thus leaving huge fucking gaps for Martials (insert EPL pacy fuck) to exploit.

Marchisio will be everywhere though, at least that's how he used to play for me, Allan with his med/high workrates stays back just like i want him to, should consider that, whoever your fullback is, he'll get more work to do with Claudio in front of him instead of Allan.

I won't give up on my Allan just now, He's been absolutely great for me as holding mid. Pitbull in front of my defense.

You should consider Pjanic too, used to be a beast for me as RCM last season.

I could buy Alex Sandro if I wanted but I don't wanna spend almost all me coin on one player (he costs like 90-100k) and Ansaldi has done well so far.

About Belotti, he's an absolute beast for me. 58 goals and 32 assists in 58 games I could afford Higuaín but he's not really necessary atm.

I'd rather wait for better Serie A IF cards.

Getting Pjanic and Marchisio has been a game changer for me, especially Marchisio. He's so fucking good.
