Melo wanted Juve future

Felipe Melo insists he never considered leaving Juventus after his nightmare debut season in Turin.

The big Brazilian was signed in 2009 for almost €25m from Fiorentina, but suffered badly in his first Olimpico campaign.

“The temptation to leave Juventus didn’t even brush my mind,”
he said in an interview with the Corriere dello Sport.

“I was certain that I could react in the right way and win back the faith of the people with my hard work.

“The club could certainly have sold me, taking into account the misunderstandings that I had with some fans.

“But that fortunately didn’t happen, now everything is going well and I am happy.”

Having remained with a rejuvenated Old Lady, the Brazilian has high hopes for the future in Turin.

“We need to think about the Scudetto,”
added the Selecao international. “We have an obligation to do so.

“Although we have to be realistic and accept the character of our rivals, we have quality and we are Juventus.

“Out of respect towards our fans, we can’t just be content with targeting qualification for the Champions League.”
