Well, he's not the type of a player that will have some great statistics, which doesn't mean he wasn't great.
But you see, players like Sissoko and Gattuso can have great season but the stats don't show that. The same is with Melo.

He had 1224 successful passes (out of 1489 passes). That's much better than any Juve player (the best passer last year in Juve was Nedved with 893 succ. passes out of 1079) but compared to D'Agostino it doesn't look great, although Melo has a better ratio. (D'Ago had 1671 successful passes out of 2141).

Melo won 76 tackles (the best in Juve was Molinaro with 85, while D'Ago was the best in the league with 109).

He was great in intercepting passes (which shows good movement and good positioning). He intercepted 113 passes. The best in Juve in this category was Molinaro with 96 intercepted passes, while D'Agostino had 93 intercepted passes.

He made quite a lot of fouls. 90 fouls committed (top 5 in serie A). He was also in top 5 regarding yellow and red cards. :D
His pass ratio is very good really. The guy can pass.

A more mobile Emerson..?

Melo: 'I'm no mercenary'

Felipe Melo has told Fiorentina fans he is “not a mercenary” after choosing to join rivals Juventus for £21m.

The Viola supporters did not take the decision well and unveiled banners insulting the Brazilian midfielder.

“I am not a mercenary, I am a professional,” insisted Melo. “Fiorentina put a buy-out clause in my contract and Juve paid it.

“The Viola did well out of it too, as they had only paid £6.5m for me a year ago. Juve is also without doubt a good opportunity for me.

“I am certain that the majority of fans will appreciate me for what I did last year.”

He is the latest Fiorentina player to cross the divide towards Juventus and knows he could be in for a rough ride.

“We’ll see what happens. If they jeer me the way they did Roberto Baggio and Giorgio Chiellini, then I will just focus on being even more concentrated.

guys does anyone knows how much did Juve pay to have the other half of his rights??
According to wiki he was bought from Livorno for €6.5m, we immediately sold half to Fiorentina for €3.5m and then bought the half back at the end of the season for €4.3m. Sounds about right from what I remember.

Lets just hope that he didnt came at the expense of the defense or Marchisio's carrier.
A great addition netherless, much better than Dago's would have been...

I think that Melo has phenomenal potential, much like Diego, but obviously in different areas of the game and pitch. Both have a large amount of raw talent, and I am damn excited to know that they are now going to continue to grow as players, whilst wearing the Juve jersey and fighting for our cause. Our team is looking at worst likely to become a major force at home and in european competition either this year or over the next 2-3 years.

All we need is some form in talent injected into our defensive unit. And we will have, at least potentially, everything we need to reclaim the scudetto, or at least go head to head in a season long duel with inter, which goes right to the wire...
