I dont see why a player should be restricted to a number regardless of what significance history plays with this particular number. If he likes 88, he should be given that for god's sake he aint no nazi im sure his got a personal reason as to why he would like to keep this number, a club should respect a players wishes.. again... its only a number!

For all we know melo's maternal uncles little boy may have born in this year and its special to him or he might just feel superstious about this number theres thousands and millions of reasons.
