Juve: Melo not official... yet Wednesday 8 July, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli claims Felipe Melo’s signing “is not official yet,” but it is just a matter of red tape.

The two clubs reportedly reached an agreement late last night worth around £21m, including winger Marco Marchionni as part of the exchange.

“He is not our player yet,” explained the Bianconeri patron. “There have been and there are some negotiations, but the official completion of the operation is still missing.

“When it is all official, you will be told.”

It’s believed Juventus are waiting for the close of the financial markets this evening, as the club is floated on the stock market and does not wish to spike its share price.

Arsenal were thought to be the favourites for the Brazilian midfielder, but Juve staged a sensational swoop.

“The matter has not yet been concluded, but I hope it will be soon,” added Cobolli Gigli.

Marchionni to Fiorentina? The details will emerge later on.”

Viola fans are furious to see one of their star players sold to their biggest rivals, as graffiti has appeared around the city declaring: 'Melo to Juve = No season tickets

What does this mean exactly?
I think it means that since the stock market is still open that there is still a chance the stocks could get better for the day. Spending 21m could skew investors and influence the value of their stock prices for the day. Once it's closed, the purchase won't effect the price of Juventus stock. That is my guess, where is Andy when you need him?

Sissoko can be bottom.

Sissoko IMO will be bottom cuz Melo has better offensive powers. Melo will most certain link up with our Left-back from center and cover for him if LB decides to go all the way. Camo on other hand will have a different role, more towards the side rather that central role. You can't exclude his crossing in any kind of formation. If we loose ball there,Sissoko will be there as he can cover for 2 guys as we seen last season. That would be my style if I was Ciro..... and I'm not :D

I'm guessing that such a big expense makes investors think is more risky to buy Juventus shares and it's price drops. It's better when compny have financial insurances secured, the more the better, rather than spending them on investments. But I'm not an economist, so I can be wrong.

I think that it is expected to rise after closing today and if we announce a new purchace as it will rise even higher but since there are no activities that will affect the stock later on they want to avoid a high jump by delaying the announcement.

Cobolli Giggle said its a matter of red tape like he did Diego, nice nice, this is really done. Not the confirmation I wanted yet, but damn, quite nice we are actually signing him.

And I like our strong midfield with strong DMs, 3 of them, but I would prefer Camo playing ahead of Marchisio, just to have extra offensive quality. Its too robust otherwise, its vital as fuuuuuuuuuuuck we get quality offensive fullbacks now. Sign Andre Santos already please, not Grosso (though would be decent signing short term). But with RB, I'm dumbfounded, perhaps complete the brazilian mercato with Rafinha? :D

It is a risk. If we spend heavily, investors might not invest in the club as they see us incurring heavy debt (maybe).

Wrong. Watch some highlight videos of Melo and how far he drops back to collect the ball. Once the ball is at his feet he immediately takes the ball forward or pings a long ball. I can see how many want Sissoko as the last line of defense for the midfield but he can roam and break the play anywhere, as with Melo he is more complete. I can't see Sissoko playing long balls and looking confident under pressure with the ball at his feet, can you?

Screw them.

It is time for Diego and Amauri to make a phone call. Don't see Melo settling as well as he would in Turin.
