Tbh if he's the same quality as Padoin then I'd be happy. Padoin is hated here but so far this season he was more consistent than Isla who cost us 19m if I'm correct. Padoin just 5m. He's good bench player. He's strong, versatile no error prone and never cries that he's benched. What else to expect from a bench player?
Completely agreed...Padoin has been good value at 5m. He is a perfect Conte pick; reliable, always gives 100% determination, no frills but sticks to whatever is asked of him with a high level of competency. I'm unsure as to why so many on here appear to disregard him, especially when we have oneof our starting forwards, Vucinic, who blows hot and cold like the melbourne weather, a Matri with the confidence of a fly in a spiders web and a de ceglie...who rarely even offers a pale imitation of a professional footballer. Padoin has done well. Very useful squad player.
Will De Ceglie leave the club if Peluso arrives?
If DC is smart, he'll never leave Juve. He'll be a bench player at most clubs, might as well be that here.
By the way Conte was talking about covering Asamoah's absence, and taking into account De Ceglie's career at Juve, during which he has never improved, never shown the basic qualities required to play anywhere near a defensive position, now and then offering a decent whipped in cross, but showing awful positional awareness, a lack of quality in the tackle, tendency to get injured...its high time he left, for his own sake as much as the club. He is a liability, and we are better off getting a couple of million for him than keeping him in the squad to erode the confidence of others around him...Knowing there is a player who can not pass the ball in a straight line, and assumes LWB is actually LW, hardly breeds confidence. Regardless of his resemblance to Damien from the Omen, its time he was sent elsewhere.
I am not too worried about Asamoah's absence, for in the league we have a solid lead, and Padoin can play LWB/LB and will be reliable.
