Looked like Zambrotta today...

:shifty:
I watched the first half, he did 3-4 cuts inside to his left foot that were very reminiscent of ol' traditore.

Had a good feeling about him since the Primavera, he has that size, stamina and enough quality that you look for in modern players. The versatility is just a bonus.

I think 3 years ago at the age of 16/17 he was considered the best talent of allievi. He used to play as an AM or winger.

He went up to Primavera at the age of 17 if I'm not wrong. At that time Juve's youth sector adopted some kind of La Masia immitation - even the youth teams would have to play 352, following the pros strategy. I know, it's laughable.

So Mattiello, as a winger or AM, was without a position to play. He was deployed as LWB and RWB, but mainly as a LWB. He started drifting between this position and the midfield. That's the reason he was considered a talented utility player for the Primavera. He never stood out, but gained the ability to play in different positions.

And now it looks like the guy will become a full time full back. He seems to have all the tools to become a good full back, specially a LB. He's still 19. Let's hope.

I'm also waiting on Donis to play for Sassuolo. The kid is talented. He didn't develop at Primavera, since our Primavera coaching and squad management is a mess. They hardly develop the guys who get there. They normally get worse. :(

But Donis is a talented winger taylor made for Bundesliga and EPL. I'm sure we will at least be able to make some money out of him. I definitely see him being sold to Wolfsburg or Bremen in 2 or 3 years.

I'm sure Mattiello will have to keep playing at a high level throughout 15-16 if he's going to have a shot at Juve.

Our youth ranks are full of talented players. The investment is really high. The problem is that they manage it very poorly, i's really hard to understand. They pour money in, bring players from overseas, but crowd the squads. There's too much rotation. And coaches are shit and can't fix a trustable system, specially on defense. Primavera teams have been very inconsistent and disorganized, achieveing very poor results in view of the very big investment that is made.

Juve probably is the team that spends most money buying youngsters in Italy right now, since Paratici arrived with Marotta. It hasn't really worked so far when you talk about kids to play for our youth ranks. Primavera results have been consistently bad and disappointing for 4 years now. This year has probably been the worst of them all.

From what I follow at vecchiasignora.com giovanilli, based on games reports and Italian fans analysis,

These are the top potential youngsters from Primavera:

- Luca Clemenza - 17 yrs - possibly the most talented of them all, trequartista/AM/SS who is skinny with great acceleration/flair/dribbling/vision for through balls. Currently top scorer for Primavera. Italy U18 team.

- Mattia Vitale - 17 yrs - we all know him, MCL with talented left foot.

- Anastasio Donis - 18 yrs - talented right footed winger. Natural position RW

- Vajebah Sakor - 18 yrs - tall, strong and skilled CM - hyped talent who came from Norway and was disputed by Arsenal, Man City, etc.

- Filippo Romagna - 17 yrs - considered one of the best CBs of his generation. Barely played this year because of injuries

- Roman Macek - 17 yrs - talented left footed CM, brought by Nedved from Czech. Needs to strengthen

- Stefano Pellini - 17 yrs - DM/CM, was the captain of the great allievi team who was probably the best in Italy last year, with the midfield of Pellini - Macek - Vitale. Seems to have leadership, toughness, good passing and vision.

- Grigoris Kastanos - 17yrs (recently completed) - hyped kid from Chipre - SS/Winger, already in Primavera

- Emil Audero - 18yrs - Italy U18 gk, is starting for Primavera - is hyped but it seems to be a long way till he can become a pro

- Pol Lirola - 18 yrs - RB/RWB/RW - talented Spanish brought from Espanyol, also hyped, starter of Spain U18/U19

- Felipe Andres Munoz Tello - 18yrs - Colombian CM/RB/RW

- Bnou-Marzouk - 19yrs - French-Moroccan CF - kinda does it all, is talented, has skills and dribbling, but is inconsistent and is not very srong. But talent is there

- Sergio Buenacasa - 18yrs - Spanish brought from La Masia, hype is there. CF. Still has to show a lot

- Blanco Moreno - 18yrs - CB - Spanish also brought from La Masia. Apparently has been bad so far, like all defenders. Teams apparently lack concentration and defensive organization.

- Udoh King - 17 yrs - CF - Italian, came from Allievi - looks like a Boakye clone

Up and coming newbies in Primavera:

- Luiz Filipe Saraiva - 17yrs - was bought from Gremio (Brazil) - defender - we don't know much about him. Not hyped in Brazil.

- Claudio Zappa - 17 yrs - defender - same as above. Is on a loan from Sassuolo. Arrived in january.

- Francesco Cassata - 17 yrs - CM - also newbie, is already a starter for Primavera. Also currently at Italy U18. Considered one of the most talented at Juve. Acquired in January from Empoli - was outright bought.

- Andrea Favilli - 17yrs - CF - other new guy, apparently some kind of old style strong poacher, ala Cerri. Also currently at Italy U18. Acquired in january from Livorno on a loan.

The most promising from Allievi:

- Luca Coccolo - 17 yrs old (recently completed) - defender - plays sometimes with Primavera, very well spoken of. Currently at Italy U17/18

- Alessandro Vogliacco - 16 yrs old - defender - one of the most promising youngsters from the whole youth setup. Already played with Primavera sometimes. Starter for Italy U17 - signed from Bari last summer

- Alessandro Eleuteri - 16yrs old - AM - brought this season, part of Italy U17, talented skilfull. Brought from Ascoli this season

- Simone Muratore - 16 yrs old - CM - also considered one of the most promising youngsters from the setup. Played a number of times for Primavera, also a starter for Italy U17

- Denny Wang Yi - 16 - CM/RB/LB - considered one of the best players of Allievi. Very consistent

- Fabio Morselli - 16 yrs old - SS - also considered one of the most talented players in Allievi. Part of Italy youth teams.

- Davide Arras - 16 - SS/CF - brought from Cagliari, one of the best Italian strikers of his age. Italy youth teams

- Adnan Curovic - 17 yrs old recently completed - defender - brought this season from Denmark, already a starter for Allievi. Quite hyped, big clubs were after him.

- Carlo Manicone - 17 yrs recently completed - striker - good Italian prospect

Now some promising young 17/18 yrs players who belong to the club but not currently playing at Juve:

- Gabriele Moncini - 18 yrs - CF - goal scoring machine for Cesena's Primavera. Already played for the pros. Starter at Italy U19. He used to belong to Juve. They sold him to Cesena and have a buy back clause. He will probably be brought back and be loaned out then. One of the best Italian CFs at his age.

- Lorenzo Granatiero - 17yrs - Italian defender, former part of Italy national youth teams. On loan at Catania youth

- Andrea Granzotto - 17 yrs recently completed - defender - also plays sometimes with Primavera, starter for Allievi, part of Italy youth teams. On loan at Vicenza youth

- Matteo Gerbaudo - 19 yrs old - CM - Vicenza youth - 4 games since January, 2 as a starter
Professional young players at Serie A:

- Berardi - Sassuolo
- Zaza - Sassuolo
- Donis - Sassuolo
- Mattiello - Chievo
- Leali - Cesena
- Rugani - Empoli
- Magnusson - Cesena
- Sorensen - Verona
- Valerio Rosseti - CF - Atalanta (coming back from injury now - already played one game)
- Boakye - Atalanta (5 goals at Serie A)

Young Juve players at overseas:

- Joel Untersee - 21 yrs old - RB - Vaduz - Switzerland - 15 games as a starter, out of 22 - Vaduz is the 6th place in the Swiss 1st division

- Fausto Rossi - Cordoba
- Bouy - Panathinaikos
- Edoardo Ceria - SS/winger - Den Bosch
- Elvis Kabashi - DM/CM - Den Bosch
- Fillippo Penna - CB - Den Bosch

Young players at Serie B:

The 3 top rated right now, who actually have a shot to play for Juve some day:

- Edoardo Goldaniga - CB - 19yrs old - Perugia - 25 games a starter - 1 goal - left footed CB, part of Italy U20, one of the most promising Italian CBs
- Mame Thiam - SS/winger - 22 yrs - Lanciano - 7 goals and 4 assists, one of the best performers in Serie B - started at Inter youth
- Andrea Schiavone - DM/CM - Modena - 25 games a stater, 3 goals - promising Italian who plays at Italy U20 - is touted as a regista

Some who should be in Serie A soon, could be in medium or small Serie A teams

- Gabriel Appelt - DM - Livorno - has played 20 games a starter for Livorno
- Marcel Buchel - CM - Bologna - starter for 15 games
- Leonardo Spinazzolla - CM - Vicenza - 2 games a starter, 1 goal

Some who have some talent but are starting there careers at Serie B or who are struggling to play consistently:

- Simone Emanuello - CM - 20 yrs - Pro Vercelli - 19 games - 13 games a starter - 1 goal
- Stefano Beltrame - 22yrs - SS - Modena - 18 games - 9 as a starter - 1 goal
- Pol Garcia - LB/CB - Vicenza - 20 yrs - 17 games - 14 as a starter - 1 goal
- Alberto Masi - CB - 22 yrs - Ternana - 10 games as starter - Juve has buy back right of 4M
- Eric Lanini - 21 yrs - SS - Virtus Entella - 11 games - 6 as a starter - 2 goals at Serie B - scored a great goal this weekend
- Matteo Liviero - LB - 22 yrs - Pro Vercelli - 11 games - 6 games a starter
- Padovan - CF - 20 yrs - Crotone - 9 games - 1 as a starter - 1 goal

A few who have talent, did well for Juve Primavera or other teams, but didn't find a team in Serie B - were sent to Serie C/D Lega Pro - long shot for Serie A some day (exemple: Diagne was bought straight from Lega Pro and went to Belgium; Goldaniga played in Lega Pro with Perugia and that's when he was bought by Juve):

- Michele Cavion - 20 yrs old - CM - Feralpi Salò - all around CM, was a good starting player for Primavera. It's weird he was sent so low. 24 games, 13 as a starter, 1 goal.
- Davide Cais - 19 yrs old - SS - Gubbio - co-own with Atalanta - 20 games, 6 as a starter, 3 goals
- Marco di Benedetto - 19 yrs - SS - Feralpi Salò - 10 games, 3 as a starter
- Simone Russini - 18 yrs - CM - Paganese - 1 game as a starter - former Italy Us
- Luca Barlocco - 20 yrs - LB - Novara - co-own with Atalanta - 2 years ago was one of the best prospects at the position in the country. 2 game as a starter since january.
- Alessandro Degrassi - 18 yrs - defender - Padova - 17 games as a starter
- Ahmed Gueye - 19 yrs - CM - Reggiana - 5 games played
- Vlad Marin 19 yrs -LB - Messina - same case as Barlocco. Was a highly considered player from Man City youth setup. Was loaned out to Roma and even stayed on the bench with professionals. 1 game
- Eros Castelletto - 19 yrs old - CM - Gubbio - former Italy Us. 7 games, 3 starters

Man, I expect some serious likes for this post.

And hell, we have a shitload of young players. They are investing heavily.

PS: being called for Italy National youth teams doesn't mean much.

Clemenza and Vitale are obviously two of the most talented Italian 17 yrs old kids. And they weren't in the last call up. It's really ridiculous.

Thousands of Milan and Inter players have been called the past 2-3 years. They absolutely dominate every Italy youth team. While they have 5 or 6 players, Juventus has none, 1 or at most 2. It's really impressive.

Primavera's defense has been atrocious during all season, completely overshadowing the talent of some offensive players. They signed some players because of this problem and are still searching for the best formation and team.

But apparently it has been settling down the last 2 games, with 2 wins and no goal conceded.

Last game was 1-0 on Genoa away.

They played 4312, just like Allegri:

Audero - Tello, Parodi, Blanco, Coccolo - Pellini, Macek, Vitale, Clemenza - Udoh, Favilli.

During the game Cassata goes in to play as a LW, Udoh becomes a RW, Muratore in for the midfield. Team improved.

A few insights:

Tello is probably becoming a perennial starter at RB, given how well he's played and the security he offered to defense;

Coccolo, a diminutive 17 yr old LB was outright bought from Empoli in January. He is the currently starting LB, and he's been doing pretty good. They say he's a tough little guy, with good antecipation and tackling, and good speed going forward. He's in the Italian NT U18.

These 2 guys apparently have given greater stability to the full back position, which has been the biggest problem along with CBs.

Blanco is being very disappointing, despite being a starter most of time.

Giulio Parodi, the right side CB, was signed 1 year ago from Bari and was considered one of the most promising Italian CBs at that time. He's struggled, and now at Primavera he has been improving since january and has been solid. 17 yr old.

Macek and Vitale are very technical CMs. Macek will probably struggle due o the lack of physicality, he needs to toughen up. The same for Clemenza.

Udoh apparently has been finding his place as a SS or winger, not as CF as he used to play before. He scores a lot, has great athletic gifts, but I don't know about his technique.

Favilli is some sort of classic CF, also brought this January from Livorno. He's strong to his age and plays as a target man, but they say he is mobile and contributes with movement off the ball and building up play, not only scoring. Hasn't scored for Juve yet. Is at Italy U18.

Cassata is on the verge of becoming the starter as a winger. Apparently quick and has dribbling. Brought from Livorno, also called up to Italy U18.

Romagna entered as a sub and is again returning from an injury. If he gets some time healhy, he'll be the starting CB. He also plays as a DM and could replace Pellini.

Muratore, very young, at the age of 16, also went in against Genoa and improved the midfield. Very dynamic and technical player. He's gaining ground at Primavera.

Lirola, a RB, arrived with great credencials from Espanyol and for being a very good performer for Spain National youth teams. His documents are being finalized and he'll probably play the next one. But it will be tough to take a place from Tello. If it happens, Tello will probably move to the midfield.

I don't know if Sakor is injured, but he could very well take Pellini's place as the starting DM. Macek and Vitale are solid starters.

Buenacasa didn't do very well so far for Primavera, this kid will probably be loaned out soon.

Bnou Marzouk has done fairly well but very irregular, struggling along with the team's lack of consistency, just like Donis. He's a acknowledged talent though, and I'd bet he could go to a small Ligue 1 french team (that's where he came from) pretty soon.

Luiz Filipe hasn't played yet, probably awaiting on paper work. There's a spot as a CB up for grabs since Blanco has been poor through all season, he could grab it.

Vogliacco, Eleuteri, Muratore, Wang Yi, Morselli, Arras and Kastanos are probably going to be promoted to the Primavera team next season.

Primavera has been playing very young players, at an average of 17 yrs. Other clubs generally play 18 yr old kids.
