dude is a hardworking two way player that has no clear weak spots. I absolutely don't buy him not fitting at all into Motta's system.

He often plays well individually but struggles to fit into the team’s general tactics (as we have seen recently at the Euro). His inconsistency since his injury and lack of commitment to the team’s style of play pose concerns, so I understand why they lean towards selling him.

Two reasons:

1. Juventus is not trying to renew him, Giutonli has been working to get what Motta wants, just look at we are doing to get Koop, if Motta wanted Chiesa, Juventus at least would try to renew Chiesa and they are not, he is up for sale, and its not a case like Soule that we are selling to get another player.

2. Watch Motta's last press conference, when ask about players like Fagioli or Vlahovic he says that they are great and will be a important part of the team in the season, when ask about Chiesa he said "He remains part of the team... for now"... if Motta wanted him to stay, he would have said something more definitive, the fact that only with Chiesa he puts in doubt his permanence should tell you that what media is reporting of hiim not been convince that Chiesa can play in his system is true.

I dont have anything against Chiesa, he is a good player (not as great as some may think and surely not as good to have a raise in his contract)... if Motta is ok on him staying AND Chiesa and the management find some agreement that doesnt involve a raise in his salary, Im fine with him staying, but seems to me that neither of those two options are close to happend.

yes we can. We lost Rabiot 8m/net year, Sandro 6,5m net/year
We def can and even if we couldn't it's better to pay 3.5m more for one year and sell the player for its worth rather than selling a 26yrs old winger with his stats during a bad season for 20.

I think if Chiesa was willing to accept a lower salary and renew it would be different. Motta could work with him but didn’t want to promise he will always be a starter. At least that is my speculation.

At the same time, I don’t think Chiesa will earn elsewhere what we offered him previously anyway. My gut feel is that this will be resolved right at the end of the transfer market.
