So at no point last year did we approach him for a renewal or did we just not approach him in the last few months?

Something doesn't quite add up

This transaction generates a negative economic impact on the 2023/2024 financial year equal to € 3 million, due to the
residual value write-down of the net book value of the player’s registration rights.

    We don't trust his knee.

And, frankly, for good reason in my opinion. He's never been quite the player he was before his ACL injury. There are flashes of speed and brilliance, but they are rare. His main assets were speed and audacity. So I can see why, if you don't think his physical abilities are still all there, you don't want to keep him. It's not like he has the creativity or skill of Baggio or Del Piero to make up for it.

That being said, I think the last couple of months showed some improvement on this front and there's every chance he'll do great at Liverpool.

my guess is we met to know his demands and they were too high for us so we didnt offer him extension in the end. he signed 7m net for LFC, he would have to lower his current wages to be signed by us.

The fanbase turning so quickly against Chiesa is a travesty. He was mistreated this summer, removed from the club from the start of preseason, and fans chastise him for behavior that is ultimately better than what they praise in Koopmeiners.

The whole thing was mishandled by the club.
Even players have effective PR teams too.

It was mishandled by all parties. No one is faultless here.

At the end of the day, you believe what you choose to believe
At the end of the day, it's a cut-throat business with huge egos running around. It's a game within a game, especially in Italy. Like usual the truth is probably somewhere in the middle when it comes to stories like these. But taking sides is where the fun is at :D Kinda like sports in general I guess.

Also just to remind you - there was some pretty reliable report that Chiesa wont stay at Juve for long, as he has enormous wage demands. Cant remember who reported this but it was brought here. I wouldnt blame it totally on our mgmt - why would they do it, they have a player for whom they paid so much, its logical to extend unless the demands are colossal.

while the club is struggling financially what would be the logic behind not renewing his contract ?
why risk loosing for free one of the few the club would sell easily (with the right salary and contract extension) ?
look at mckenny - same scenario but different outcome..

Either way, it was not very classy of him to throw shade at the club the moment he leaves no matter how 'evil' or 'cutthroat' we believe an organization(in this case Jj management) can be

I guess this what separates your Chiesa's from true legends like Del Piero(who himself was discarded by the club)
