‘ Confidence ‘ that’s he’s real problem not talent.

I’m pretty sure if this guy was given time to play regularly he’ll do well. Just give him enough playing time (play 6-7 games back to back) and he’ll deliver no doubt In my mind, this guy will make a real difference in our team.
He is given 3 years now to prove himself, and yet to show something important and consistency...

This is his last year for sure

Honestly, it's baffling. He looks and plays like some potential superstar up until the point he has to make a decision in the final third. Can't recall another player like it.
He lacks confidence, it’s pretty clear (at least to me). He’s probably one of the best players around vision wise IMO.

Mentally he’s similar to Pogba, talented player but lacks confidence.

3 years but never given a real run in games so far. like I’d said, play him regularly for 6-7 games and he’ll surprise many of our fans.

It's more due to decision making than confidence imo. He also hold on the ball too long, but these are flaws he can work on.

Don’t see the similarity with Pogba

I agree with this. The puzzled look on his face at times makes it look like a lack of confidence.
Should be given this season in a specialised position (RW) and if he fails then we should get shot.

It's exactly about holding the ball for too long. It's not about the confidence, he clearly has the confidence to try to get past the player or do different things, but he just simply can't see the best option and that's about lack of game IQ. Im afraid it cannot be fixed, it's one of those things you either have or not. His game will always be about those highlight plays where he got himself into trouble, but manages to fix it by his technical quality behind the ball but in return, he will lose the ball for nothing multiple times for that one highlight.

I think he seems over confident, he tries to difficult option most of the time. He often does the hard bit well to create space, if at point he chooses the simple pass or shot he could be far more effective.

The top players seem to see things in slow motion around them allowing them to size up the situation and make the right decision, Berna seems to be the opposite when getting near the box. Time will tell whether he can change this, I can't make up my mind on whether he can, he certainly has the technique to.

Classic example of Berna yesterday was him giving the ball away with a terrible pass, he then works hard to win the ball back with lots of energy but then trys to dribble past two players and gives the ball away yet again.. it has nothing to do with confidence or run of games hes just a very stupid/low IQ player.

R u for real??? Paul is an asshole that disrespect us hard and is paying for his mistake in a shithole like the current Manu but Berna can't even dream to be in the same level of the french, not even in a mental point of view

I think he lacks in the athleticism department. Doesn't have great acceleration / speed.
You must be joking. He's the closest to Ronaldo from the current squad. Do not forget he's not some feather weight player but rather a big guy. Just look at the replay when he won us a penalty against Atletico. At the 80th minute he outrun Correa (a pacey winger) who has just been introduced from the bench, therefore with fresh legs.

He also ran his ass off in game 1 vs Valencia and was the main reason (along with Cancelo) why it didnt feel even for a single second that Juventus is playing with 10 men. If he could maintain a level close to his top standarts he would be considered a star player and a game changer.

Sadly, it doesnt seem likely to accomplish that, he`s got skills and talent, but boy how frustrating is to watch him in his off days...

It has to be this. I dont think is confidence, because apart from costa, he is one of our few players that try to dribble past out of the blue and gets with it. Not many of our players dare to try his luck so often.

The problem is that his final decition is being dodgy at best. And i dont know why he has degraded so much.

In his first season, everytime he came in, he did a killer pass or a shot or asist/goals with the few minutes he received. It was a sight to behold how clucth he was.

He got injured by end season.... Then come his 2bd season, he cut his hair, he got more minutes as starter... and all went downhill.

It is like if he forgot how to do what he knew.

I think his acceleration is maybe average or slightly above. Not like Costa. But he can maintain top speed and run the entire pitch. I think he has everything to play CM lol. His end product would certainly be more acceptable if he was a CM and not a main attacking outlet at the wing.

The problem is he doesn't have right foot.
