Anyone else worried about Bernie?
Call me a hater but imo he was a passenger in some games last season just as in those 2 friendlies. Sometimes it's even hard to tell what is he doing on the pitch, he's not a winger, he's not an AM, not a striker. Just standing somewhere between the def and attack. Did you see him being a consistent offensive force throughout the whole game (like f.ex. Cancelo lately)? No, it's mainly two actions per game, some assist here and goal there.

For the amount of talent he supposedly has it's disappointing. I'd sell him to fund a WC mid tbh.

He looked a little disconnected yesterday, but the entire entire attack was disjointed. He'll be fine, he just needs a good run of games in the full strength team.

And probably a different role.

Maybe you are a bit harsh on him but imho most of your points here are indeed valid.

Tho personally i'd put it more down to the injury he suffered during last season, started well and was on track for steady growth prior to it but tbf he just hasn't been the same ever since. However, just as @Dominic pointed out it could also be down to him being in need of a run of games to regain intensity/confidence, first pre-season games are not really to judge as it's not only him underperforming but sure basing on how he been performing both now and during the end of last season it's warranted that it started raising some eyebrows.

I think time will tell, it's just way too early to properly judge if you ask me.

It's pre season. Bernie probably a little fatigued. Also, him and Caldara looked very much like playing a training session over those two games. Others take it more seriously, but again, ICC or any other friendly tournament at this stage is nothing to go by. Bernie will be ready for the next season!

Nb4 someone laughs at you because it’s a friendly.

Cancelo hit the ground running and for a guy that had no World Cup to play in should be 100% fresh. It almost feels like max isn’t sure how he wants to use him.
