Fantasista
I can't say I concur

The problem is a great team should be an example for the rest of the world

If he would have put on a show like against Depor or even like the one against Basel at the Delle Alpi.

The players of Basel would of left the pitch knowing they had been outdone by their superiors.
That they had been beaten by a great team.
And I am sure many of them would see that defeat as more memorable then this
"Another Day on the Job" approach.......

I mean I don't know if you can remember the old days of the CL when Juve use to rampage through the group stages.....

Some Journalists would even argue that Juve had the Strongest starting 11 to ever set foot on a football pitch.

Teams would lose against us... dropping points was as uncommon as getting Red Cards....

Recently I read some journalist writting "Juventus is the only italian team that has no passion". They subsitute pragmatism and rationale for passion. She said I instantly wrote a pretty angry email to her telling her how wrong she was....
It is days like this I begin to see her point.......

I mean I think we are all passionate fans here right....
How many when the group stage was drawn actually thought
(Good!! Lets finish Second number one will cost us too much effort)
or
(Lets take 10points out of the first 4rounds and then field our reserves in the remaining 2 games)

I thought Great lets Try To win this Group (Revenge Depor and crush manu and toy around with Basel)

I mean I thought the whole point of football was going out on the pitch and giving it your all....

I mean they should remember the day they played the BiancoNerri for the rest of their lives....

Will they Remember us for such a lack lustre performacne?
but evelyn, why you complain and do a problem about this??

it is normal, the game was relatively easy,, it was very hard that basel hit 4 goals against us.
New fans around the world?? if you became a fan of a team, by just only seeing one game, you are not doing well. In mi opinion, i begin to talk about ateam after seeing 5, 6 games. but in one game, no.

imvho evelyn has a strong point there.teams are trying to get the most by doing the least-that much is true.however we must also remember the congested fixtures of the clubs in so many competitions.true,we should always aim to win every single match.but this isn't possible, especially fielding your first XI in every single match.we have UEFA to blame for that.football may be all about money nowadays but the passion hasn't quite subsided,at least not yet.

One of the things I hate about Juve
and about Lippi as a tacitican is that he doesn't want to win all the games

He is too economical
knowing that only a miracle will get Basel through
Juve fields a semi strong squad
making also sure to avoid suspension for the quarter final
Now Sure this is good for the quarter final

But It is bad for the pride of the fans
and also probably for the teams confidence
I mean how fun can it be to go play a game knowing the objective is not to win but to avoid getting booked..........
I think juve played well regarding the game situation , we need no injuries and i dont care if we lost 2-1 , we r in the next round now and i think this is where CL gets tougher

Congrats for officially advancing to the quarters

It wasn't one of the best matches to watch last night but the atmposhere was great at the St. Jackob Stadium. At the end of the match the fans jockingly sang 'We beat the champions'. Del Piero and other Juve players joined the celebrations along with the Basel players in a nice gesture, celebrating the wonderful success of both clubs. 2 Basel players were even fighting for Del Piero's shirt :D !!

About the match itself, Buffon did some great saves at the early minutes .. and Tacchi's goal was a splendid screamer .. I don't think that many would critisize him anymore !! Del Piero came in late at the second half and combined well with Salas more than one time and nearly scored .. Salas himself missed some chances but he has improved ..

Anyway, a great European night and now I'm looking forward for more

David Trezeguet was forced to limp off after just 30 minutes due to a knee problem, but Lippi assured it was nothing to worry about.

“It is a bruise on the back of his knee and the muscle contracted with the pain, but it is nothing serious.”

The Frenchman should be ready to face Milan in Saturday’s showdown at the San Siro, a result that could make the title a two-horse race.

“To win at San Siro and knock them out of the Scudetto chase would be ideal. It is never and shall never be a relaxed game and both sides will certainly try to get all three points.”

This game was played because we had to play. This game should be played like this, no injury, no cards but just play the game.

Well... I think it was an onest match, Juve didn't give too mutch but at list they respected Basel. We cannot pretend too mutch, already quilify teams never give their best...

A positive note 4 Tacchinardi (a very beautiful goal and a good prestation) and a negative one 4 Juliano: I never liked this player, he never had a bit of class but now he's even worst... yesterday he played like a 10 years old guy who is playing his fisrt soccer match 4 his school!!! Anycase I guess he was in the field just cause Lippi wanted to rest the not anymore so young Ciro 4 saturday.

BTW, how did Zenoni play?
IMo he didn't do anything to remember... nor positive nor negative. 4 somebody who rarely see the field this can be considered nearly positive.

Absolute thunderous shot into the top left-hand corner. Minds, you Tach always had a good shooting ability:cool:. What shocked me was that it was his left foot.
Iuliano was a joke, for entire match. I never seen a defender who is so uncomfortable with possession. He also looked very clumsy while he is defending. Poor performance, and our back four looks extremely vunerable.

The positive note is that we didn't give away as much space as we did against Depor game.:). Mind you, that made the game a lot more boring than the previous one.;):D.

And nice to see our captain back, well..almost with a goal. Unlucky that he dragged the shot wide. I was shocked that Salas actually made a good incisive pass!:D.

I hope we get Ajax or Barca for next round. Milan at current form would not be too bad either.:). Valencia or Arsenal could give us a bit of problem, I think.

Speaking of our defending, it is very worrying that when crosses come into the box , it becomes chaotic, its either Iuliano is sliding the ball towards his goal or he is heading it to an opponnent, for their second goal, Nedved actually dodged the ball which happened against Inter as well the 1-1 draw in which Iuliano just turned his back on the ball and allowed 5 players to gang up on Buffon

If they are not strong enuff to protect their goal keeper they should not be in the penalty box protecting the goal keeper

By the way, do you have pictures from the "fireworks" freom Basel yesterday??
