This is the most miserable, useless, and self-serving post in the whole thread. Look here Baby G, you want to hit us over our collective heads with a "I'm holy and better than you becuase I give to the poor" whine? Come off that baby, because in the real world, nobody takes 50% of their earnings and gives it away to help strangers.
For fvcks sake Rob, I never claimed that I'm such a good person and I give money to the poor, nor did I say that I have something against the whole fashion industry.
Go buy a nice pair of jeans, and I'll say they look great on you

But it gets ridiculous when it comes to the point that a handbag that's made of 50 grams of material costs a couple of thousand dollars. Fine, go ahead and buy yourself a suit that costs a fortune, but at least it's made of quality material and looks dead sexy. Spend your life savings on a new car, and I'll probably ask if i can go for a spin. But come on, $2000 for a pair of shoes?
Please kindly quit the name calling

Look at it this way: If every member of this forum spent disgusting amounts of money and bought only the most expensive designer brands, all of that money combined would not equal what Juventus paid to Perugia for Davide Baiocco. Don't accuse us of wasteful spending.
I had a feeling the football clubs argument would be brought up, but a football club is a money-making business, and they bought Baiocco because they thought he would reap financial benefits for them (God knows why, but you get the point). He wasn't signed so they could polish him up and put him on a pedestal to look good, he was signed to play football and bring in cash for the company.

We buy designer clothes for a number of reasons. Whether it is the superior quality, the love of the latest designs and trends, a feeling of inadequecy and need to accepted by the in-crowd, or whatever, it is still the choice of the individual. If I have the money I can dress myself in whatever I like and it does not make me the devil.

Turn your "help the unfortunate" whine on the super-wealthy. You know:
Roberto "Divine" Baggio and "Saint" Paolo Maldini. It's o.k. for those guys to buy the best? Why? Because they kick a ball? No professional athlete is better than me, better than you, better than Balkey the Pick-Pocket.
When did I say that it's okay for the rich and famous to spend ridiculous amounts on clothes? If anything, they're the people who disgust me the most. I'm quite happy to see your sexy ass wearing a brand new suit that you splurged on for your birthday, and I understand that people have their own 'hobbies' and interests. If I'm feeling rich, I'll go buy myself a $160 official match ball. I haven't done that as yet, since I'm a student with no dosh, but before you go calling me a hypocrite, allow me to clarify my point. As I've said above, I don't hold a grudge against people who wear nice clothes, but I find that something's a little wrong when celebrities are spending millions of dollars on clothing that they're gonna wear once and living such self-indulging lifestyles, and everyone else in the world is glorifying them for it.
I don't expect people to give 50% of what they earn to the poor, my point is that people should get their priorities straight.
