I've tried to read all I could about this calciopoly scandal and I still don't understand why the fans and the players are being penalized and punished for some "alleged" illegal activities of one or two club executives that are no longer affiliated with the club. Maybe I am naive but what good does it do to destroy a club, cause financial hardship to a city, investors, employees etc.

I remember a situation here in the US when George Steinbrenner owner of the NY Yankees was convicted of some illegal activity. They suspended him from baseball for a few years and fined him. They certainly did not throw the NY Yankees into the minor leagues with a 30 game deduction. What good would that have done? The team kept playing the fans were happy (okay as happy as NY fans can be :D ) and the players got paid. George paid his dues and came back and life went on and nothing illegal has happened since (that I know of LOL).

Why can't they just throw Moggi & Co in jail and be done with it. Oh and although I love Italy (it's my second home) corruption is a way of life there...it's been around for thousands of years...destroying Juve is not going to solve the problems.
oh i wish they could just punish moggi and leave juve alone...

I remember that...Steinbrenner was made to pay, NOT the Yankees or the fans

but this is Italy we are speaking of, and the bullshit never stops

the biggest scam going on right now is that Inter and Moratti are controlling what happens, with regards to this whole trial and sentencing

no way in hell are we going to get back into A, unless someone kills Rossi before the appeals are finished

-15 is better then -30, makes our chances on promovation a lot bigger.
If we can keep our two titles also, then I can live with that.

I don't know much of the italian courts.. but I read today that Cobolli said if the appeal failed, he will take the case to the civil court..

now, if it did failed.. and juve took the case to the civil court.. AFAIR, the civil court cannot adjust the sentence, right? or is it the lazio court or some other courts) they either accept it or decline it..

so, if I'm right.. there is a chance that we can get out of this mess like nothing happened..!!!

it would be very good to hear from an expert in the juridical system in Italy..

If we got relegated to serie B then we won't keep the 04-05 scudetto for sure. The 05-06 scudetto was publically robbed from us.
Us featuring in Serie A is very difficult. We have to appeal not from only serie B but with -30pts. Meaning its like appealing from serie c.

Still Serie A would be nice. I think if we get serie A even with point deduction we will survive... We are talking about Juve here :)

Italy awaits appeal verdicts Tuesday 25 July, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Calciopoli appeal verdicts are expected to be delivered on Tuesday after the hearing came to a conclusion on Monday.

The three-day debate reached its end last night with Milan making their case against the punishment handed to them by the CAF court 10 days ago.

Although the Rossoneri escaped following Juventus, Fiorentina and Lazio into Serie B, they were kicked out of the Champions League and handed a 15-point penalty for the 2006-07 campaign.

The Italian giants were implicated in the scandal as a result of an intercepted telephone call by Leonardo Meani, a now former employee, who requested a specific linesman for the April 2005 clash against Chievo.

Milan have argued that they were “indirectly responsible” for his actions and urged the Federal Court to wipe out the first grade sentence.

“Meani is a person altogether marginal to the club,” Milan lawyer Leandro Cantamessa told the five-man appeal panel.

"The further away a person is from the club, the more autonomous his actions become and the less controllable on the part of the club.

“The sentence is without precedent.”

Milan have also insisted that Vice-President Adriano Galliani, who has been banned for a year as a result, never approved Meani’s actions.

All four clubs involved have denied wrongdoing and are hoping that their appeals will have proved successful.

Juventus were stripped of their last two titles, demoted to Serie B and handed a 30-point deduction for the 2006-07 campaign.

Lazio and Fiorentina have also been stripped of their Serie A status and will start with minus seven and minus 12 points respectively.

Although a verdict is expected this evening, there is the possibility that the fresh sentences will be delayed for another 24 hours.

according to juventus-fr, the verdict will be given at 20.00, Italian time.

They speak of:
Serie B - 15 for us
Serie B -0 or Serie A - heavy for Fiorentina
Serie A - some points for Lazio
and
Serie A and participation in UEFA for f*ckin Milan

From the appeal i hope for Juve points deduction will be reduced from 30 to 15 thats the best we can hope for. As far as the titles i hope we get it back but if we fail then it SHOULD NOT be given to Inter. If Fiorentina & Lazio got to back to Seria A then our job to get promotion will be much easier.:D

I guess we will have to wait and see wat happens when its official

offcourse -15 is better than -30.
but our penalty is much much worst from the others, who also found guilty. This is simply unacceptable.
