Quagliarella: 'I thought we'd won'
By Football Italia staff

Fabio Quagliarella admits he thought he had scored the Juventus winner against Galatasaray. “They had just two shots on goal.”

The striker came off the bench and netted to put the Bianconeri 2-1 up, but within 60 seconds Umut Bulut had snatched a 2-2 draw.

“It is a shame, because we were 2-1 up with four minutes to go,” Quagliarella told Sky Sport Italia.

“I think they had just two shots on goal, then we were in control for the rest of the game, so if there was a team that deserved to win it was Juventus.

“It leaves a bitter taste that you push so hard and finally get through, then they score on the next move.”

Galatasaray had taken the lead when Didier Drogba pounced on a poor Leonardo Bonucci backpass.

“It can happen for a teammate to make a mistake, whether it’s a backpass or a striker missing in front of goal. Things went against us today.”

Quagliarella also earned the penalty for Arturo Vidal to draw level.

“When I saw that I had moved the ball and the player was coming at me very fast, I couldn’t really get out of the way.

“As the Coach said in his Press conference, teams all defend against us now and hope to cause us problems on the counter-attack. It’s tough when an entire squad is behind the ball, as you can’t find space, but we have to work on countering this tactic.”

Quagliarella has scored six goals in 14 Champions League games, many coming off the bench, on average one every 89 minutes of football.

“All I can do is train hard and ensure I am ready when called upon, then the Coach makes his decisions.”

Well fucking done.

Proving us all wrong. Can't ask for much more. One of the only players who looked like he gave a fuck out there.

Nope, unlike other posters on this forum, I have zero problems when admitting I'm wrong. Quags is made for the CL. He was 5 mins away from saving our asses (again) tonight.
Well fair play then for admitting it. You did laugh at my post when i said Quags will have a big part to play in our season though :D I told u he has talent and knows where the goal is. He gives 100% every time he steps onto the pitch and u cant ask for any more that from our players.

Quags was the same last season as well not much game time and he kept scoring, He hasn't just played like it this season he was good for us while he was given limited time last season.
What's interesting is how he has adapted to the team's needs in formations that don't necessarily bring the best out of him. Earlier he'd always score real fancy goals and go looking for them, but now he's blending into the team and focussing on movement, holding up the ball, slowing down the play by winning free kicks when isolated etc. Having said that, his goals are still pretty damn neat pieces of work. May not be old skoo, Qtube material, but definitely finishing with finesse.

Mr. Champions League strikes again.
Ahkmed is going to go bipolar with his love hate relationship with Quag.

All part of his Napoletano complex :chin:
:chin:

Team Matri, once doubters, inspecting Quag, realizing he's the real Quag of old:

He doesn't *LOOK* like he's doing much usefull when he plays, and I guess that throws people off.

But he is by far our most effective striker... no, player... when it comes to the CL.

Underappreciated, has saved us from embarrasment in Europe these past 2 years tbh.
