Thank god he knows the code of the credit card, given the transfers fees and salaries for these 2 players, no club has been able to match our offer and for them it was just impossible to refuse such an offer even if it forced them to play with bonnucci and bernadette.

We paid a huge amount of money to bring De Ligt in (not to mention an insane salary and probably a big fat commish to the Fat Man, so was it really that surprising that he chose us over the mess @ Manure and the Declining Power that is Barca?!

As for Ronaldo, we paid a hefty fee for an ageing superstar and gave him a huge salary, so again no surprises there. Still, I'm going to give him partial credit here.
Nonetheless, are we better as a team now? Are we any closer to winning the CL than we were in 2017? The answer is a resounding no. Yes, the coaches we hired have a role to play in that, but who approved them, or is Tootsie only responsible for the good and none of the bad?

Ronaldo was a great purchase with the caveat, that if the purchase price and wages mean you can’t afford to build a strong team around him to take advantage of these last years of his prime then it was basically a marketing ploy and had nothing to do with winning on the pitch as things currently stand.
Paratici has made big splash signings, and driven excitement around the team to a wider audience, but then failed pretty badly to do the hard work of filling out a well-balanced squad to compete with the very best.
Add to that, his first coaching hire in Sarri was an abject disaster, and this second one may possibly be even worse in the short term, regardless of Pirlo’s eventual coaching merits in the future.
Last year and this year we look further than we ever did during the Allegri tenure from competing in Europe and our haphazard, opportunistic transfer strategy is mostly to blame unfortunately.

Tici hired a manager with a drastically different philosophy to the previous manager. It was a radical change and we lacked the personnel to successfully transition into that style of football. When you go from one extreme to another without proper planning or resources, chances are it will always end up being a disaster.
Sarri's appointment depending on how Pirlo's tenure goes may have potentially set us back by a couple of years and could've also cost us that elusive CL trophy with Ronaldo's presence which is even more disappointing given that we bought the GOAT to get closer to winning it but it's the complete opposite infact.

having a good squad is something to build on. When you are constantly replacing depth players as well as 3-4 starters due to age you can improve the swuad. Hes had to replace Benatia, Khedira, Matuidi, Chiellini old and hurt, mandzukic, etc. Thats in the last 2 years. Thats not a recipe for a good team. We can agree on that right? Bringing in Mckinnie for cheap, De Ligt, Morata, Chiesa, and Demiral is a good start for the future. Hopefully Kulu turns out as well. The mids im less confident about though
Seriously. Let's think that instead of Morata we had to rely on an old Higuain. Instead of Chiesa we started with Bernardeschi, instead of Kulusevski we had permainjured Costa, and instead of an exciting McKennie it was Matuidi playing the antithesis of what Sarri wanted.
People here love to criticize Paratici (and everyone really) but last night was 100% won because we have better players. Both teams were out of potentially 4 starters yet our lineup was better, and our bench was hugely better. We aren't winning matches because of coaching masterclasses, we are winning them because of our squad, which point to Paratici's credit in rebuilding the team.
