I would have thought we have been planning this for some time. It looked very possible that we would lose to Lyon (assuming that was the final straw, the decision may have been made before then). In which case I'm sure Agnelli would have been preparing either way.
Im still on the Pirlo + Lippi hypetrain, as unrealistic as it may sound.

Here's a question for you guys:
If we were to buy three players:
A) Pogba, Padoin, Sturaro
B) Ramsey, Can, Rabiot

which option would you go for. One excellent player and two mediocre/poor players OR three good/decent players.

The shift from option A to option B is the reason for our decline.

When we have best midfield, we are struggling to score but hold the game in our hand
So, we go for striker Higuain and CR7 to make attacking area sharp, but boot the midfield in process
We have players to get a goal but lost the hold of the game

Andrea has balls.
That, or he is knows that he is at fault, he is scared that we are going to lynch him and dropping a scapegoat to our feet...
As bad a job as Paratici has done I think it is a mistake to get rid of him at the moment, particularly with the short transfer window and if both Sarri and Nedved are going. It is a lot of change and I'm sure he will have deals lined up.

He should get some tough treatment from Agnelli and know that he was close to being sacked though.

I think he is skilled in scouting and useful to have. He needs a more experienced director with him.
I can live with him being relagated to assistant duty again, prolly for the next two decades.
Use his best skills, yet get a proper man for the real job!

This. When you have one great player you have his talent plus others are trying to do their best and are motivated for self-improvement. When you have a group of just decent players where everyone's on the same level you have neither the spark of a genius when it matters most nor the healthy motivation in the team, they just stagnate toward the collective mediocrity.

The thing is, you can find Option B in Italy. You can find an Emre Can in Italy. Fiorentina just bought Amrabat for nothing.

is lippi still driven enough for such a job? i could see him as honorary president, vice president or something, but not in a day to day job with plenty of administration, legal shit, financial consequences and plenty of responsibility.

as for pirlo, it's good to have him in-house in case something goes south with the new coach and we need a coach to step in, but he's way too unproven for such a job.

Confirmed that this moron did indeed re-up Matuidi's contract recently :sergio:
he's unfit for the job, but the matuidi extension was a formality. if we want to keep him, we can, and if we want to sell him for a minimum fee, then we can do that too. without an extension, we are losing the possibility to keep a squad player, or to sell him for even a symbolic fee. and we can still release him if we want to. i'd expect most sports directors to make the same decision in a similar situation.

Retaining Blaise doesn't make sense:

  • Cannot sell a player of his age and ability for any significant value. No one is that dumb except Fabio tbh because he's simply deluded.
  • He did not fit Sarri's scheme since he offers very little going forward on that left side. Touch of a rapist, harmless decoy making runs into the box which defenders knowingly left unmarked due to the lack of threat, etc.

No you misunderstand me. I’d like Pirlo as manager, with Lippi as mentor as Pirlo doesn’t have any experience, and Lippi has. For now I wouldn’t change Nedved and Paratici.

Lippi should coach Pirlo, giving tactical and training advice etc.

I know it’s a very romantic idea, and it’s a system that you basically never see in Italy, but I’d love it.
