And another thing and I will probably get roasted for this. I am no happier than anyone about the players that chose to leave. Canna had two great seasons with us and played a huge part in our two titles. It wasn't his fault that we got demoted. Kudos to the players that stayed and stuck it out, but I don't understand why Canna is getting roasted so hard for wanting to continue at the highest level. Everyone had their own decision and was able to chose on their own. No one forced them to stay or leave.

Look at Melo. Viola fans are calling him a mercenary. In one year he helped the club make nearly 20million dollars and it was the clubs decision to put the clause in the contract. Canna came for cheap and made us a slight profit when he left and by no strengthening a direct rival like Inter (Ibra) or Milan (Zamb).

I would have loved to see Canna suck it up and stay for that season, but he didn't. He made a choice to keep his career that he worked his entire life for to keep going strong. The others that stayed chose to stay and take the risk. Canna had two years history and DP, Trez, Camo had many more years under their belt than Canna did. As disappointed as I am, I am not going to put my club/board down for bringing him back when it isn't healthy or constructive for the overall project of rebuilding our club to what it used to be. And to any eggheads in here that think Andy and I have some secret pact that "I have been influenced" by him I am sure Andy will be the first one to tell me to fuck off on the Canna stuff.

No of course not. You see one thing good calcipoli did bring was the removal of these mercenaries IMO. they left us, we soon had a a bunch of players who actually loved to play for team for the sake of the team. Well, Viola should stuff that 20million dollars up their asses because they can do a lot with that. And Ibra went straight to our direct competitor. Fiorentina as much as they hate us were never a "direct" competitor to us like Inter or Milan.

We got Canna on a daylight robery. We made a profit on him going to Real if I'm not mistaken. And now we got him again, but this time for free.

That is what I am trying to say as well. Those fans are just absent minded. Most fans obviously are not too happy with the players that left, including Canna. But to disrupt the team they claim to love just to prove a point. That is reckless and irresponsible. The board just spend 50m dollars to shut up the fans that roasted Secco. Now we finally are on to something and they want to jeopardize that. Sooner or later, these fans, are going to come to a bridge. Stay on one side and continue to threaten our growth or cross and just support the team anyway they can and just be pissed off to themselves until he retires.

Bottom line, we need to focus what is best for the team at this juncture in our rebuilding. The media is having a field day with this and its going to tarnish our image all over again. I didnt like the idea of signing Canna again, not because of the "traitor" thing, but because of his age and decline of form. But the "traitor" thing also has its influence. I, personally dont hate Canna for what happened, but the way things have gone, it certainly leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Also its not really a long term plan (canna signing), and here we are laughing at milans old defences for years now but sign a old cd whos best years are over.

What has now happened is exactly something what i expected. Its very easy for us, here, fans who dont visit stadium regularly to speak about these things. I can def understand the reasons of those fans who visit stadium regularly to react against Canna. And its not something what has happened first time, i mean you could also argue that those same fans boo Zlatan when he plays against us. No one seems to have a problem with that? From what i remember Figo was always booed when he played against Barcelona. Id say its quite a "natural" thing in football. Heck Utd fans booed Sissoko when we played a friendly with Utd last summer (for what reason?) .

It's not just about not having a problem booing Ibra. He went to Inter. That is like the worst crime I think. But he did it, yes he is on another team so it is in my opinion OK to boo him. But now Canna is back, yes we can be unhappy but to throw things on the field, potentially hurting someone is crossing the line. The whole world including Canna and the Board know the Ultras are unhappy. They don't need to take it this far. The club will always be bigger than the player, I think they forgot that.

The contract was signed, it's a done deal. They need to move on. Focus on the now, not the past.
