No, it didn't. He hasn't lost much of his strengths which were always his acceleration, short area burst quickness and anticipation. He was simply left alone at Madrid and couldn't cover the gaping holes in their defense because he is and never was very fast in space or big enough to get in the way of passes. He thrives in an organized defense because of his quickness and anticipation.

Defensively Madrid was a joke, for a defender of Cannavaro's class who was used to playing in organized sides it was a nightmare

If he did, it was his right to do so, but there was no reason to lie us, promising that he wants to stay no matter what. Zlatan and Vieira wanted to play for the ones who framed us, but at least they never lied about it, its unprofessional to do so and he has no excuses if he did that intentionally...

Now we were the ones who forced him out, then this changes everything.

As for his value, he is useful now, but hopefully we wont regret in the future...
Its not the first time we have overlooked a permanent fix for our weakest spot.

Really got shown up for his lack of pace, Lavezzi ripped him for their 3rd goal
Actually Cannavaro couldn't be blamed for the third goal, he was in his place at least, if someone was slow there, it was Chiellini (and there where others, like Melo also), who couldn't catch Hamšik with all the time on the earth because... I don't actually know why, but him standing and watching how Hamšik scores that rebound was purely disgusting. Trezeguet for example outran Giorgio totally, they both where in the opponent's box, but David appeared at our box at least 10 second's faster and that's not because he is Usain Bolt. Because he cared.
