England duo Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard have been nominated for the European Footballer of the Year award.
Rooney and Lampard were both outstanding in Euro 2004, scoring four and three goals respectively.

England captain David Beckham is also nominated, as are Manchester United's Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Arsenal's Thierry Henry and Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy are among the 50 nominees, as is Chelsea's £24m signing from Marseille Didier Drogba.

Manchester United's 19-year-old Rooney, a £27m summer signing from Everton, has also been nominated for the World Player of the Year award.

Highbury captain Patrick Vieira makes the list, along with Arsenal team-mate Jose Antonio Reyes, as does Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Liverpool's Milan Baros is rewarded with a place on the list for his outstanding performances for the Czech Republic in Euro 2004, where he ended the tournament as top scorer.

Sweden striker Henrik Larsson is another nominee based on his outstanding goalscoring feats for Celtic before his move to Barcelona.

The award is organised by France Football magazine.
