If England beats Italy in the World Cup, can their government charge him for being a traitor?
Damn, there's only way of finding out I suppose. Everyone will go all Ahn Jung Hwan on his Pergian ass.

We miss him badly throughout these qualifications. We move the ball very well, we're very technical and we create chances, but we're missing a striker of Eduardo's quality up front to convert these chances into goals.
Yes, I agree. Petrić would be so much more effective if he could comine with Eduardo, it's just the common cliché about Olić I suppose. Modrić's passing would find Eduardo in space too, because from this game Pranjic and Srna have had to cover all the way to get into space.

Btw: Rossi, Pellisier, Foggia score. And Daniele Galloppa becomes the first Siena player ever to play for Azzuri, who would have known...

If they don't win this then they are 99.9% out of the world cup. I switched to this match, the last 10 minutes should be interesting.
I'd agree. Denmark has it practically wrapped up, and Hungary is in the driver's seat.

Queiroz has proven himself a pretty worthless, uncreative, and uninspirational coach, btw. Even if Portugal pulls out a late winner, it would be undeserved based on the play in this match, IMO.

Queiroz is a joke.

OMG, Bruno Alves scores a late desperate header two minutes into injury time 2-1. And completely undeserved.

FT Portugal wins.

Now things start looking better for them, even though they are still 4 pts behind the 2nd placed Hungary, with both teams having 4 more matches. But Portugal has to play twice against Hungary and with two wins they'll be second.

Sweden shouldn't be ignored either. They are 3 pts behind Portugal with a match less. The fight for the 2nd place will be very interesting. One mistake and you're out.

Sweden's done for, IMO. I can't see them doing anything. And I still think Portugal is out -- with a remote chance if they can Queiroz on his ass ASAP and call up a competent replacement. Hell, even Scolari at this stage would be a step up over Queiroz.

The world's best striker Ibra not at the next World Cup?
One of Ibra and Ronaldo won't be at the world cup for sure. Maybe even both of them :D

But Ibra has an excuse because he's more or less an one man team and he can't do everything alone. Ronaldo has Deco, Pepe, Carvalho, Bosingwa, Nani and Simao to help him.

I'll be frank. I hope they all miss out, both Sweden and Divergul.

No offense Greg, but I would rather see Portugal miss out for obvious reasons. :p
No offense taken. But I wouldn't want to see a team playing so below their capabilities make it in either. Even if it is one I support. Portugal got immensely lucky in the final minutes of this one -- they have nothing to show for all their talent. They honestly deserved to be out and Queiroz to be tossed to the wolves.

Not that the players aren't contributing to their lack of decent play. But Queiroz has to take a good chunk of the lack of inspiration and creativity out there.

Yep. Bosingwa played well. Nani came in late. And even if the team has never had a decent forward, it should be enough to succeed more than this.

The next match will be do or die for Portugal. They play away to Denmark. It's a very tough place to play and Portugal must win.

I don't think that Sweden has less chances than Portugal. On Wednesday the Swedes will play against Malta (in Sweden). With a win Sweden will have the same number of pts as Portugal, with the same number of matches played. Everything will be open.

Assuming that Sweden will beat Malta on Wednesday and make everything equal, these will be the remaining 4 matches for SWE and POR

Hungary-Sweden
Malta-Sweden
Denmark-Sweden
Sweden-Albania

Denmark-Portugal
Hungary-Portugal
Portugal-Hungary
Portugal-Malta

Their schedule is just as hard, but the advantage for Sweden is that they will play vs Denmark 2 rounds till the end, when Denmark will probably have the first place secured (and then the Scandinavian friendship might work against Portugal).

Edit: And Hungary has a nightmare of a schedule. They play twice against Portugal, once vs Sweden and once vs Denmark.
