Deja vu.

Still, what im saying, is that the fair result was a 1-1, you didn't do nothing in the first half, bue you could have scored 2 ou 3 in the second half, isn't that hard to see.
but you didnt do anything in the first half either (excep for the goal). if you concede an early goal, that changes everything. we couldt play the way we wanted from the begining, and besides that, we came back great, scored, and could have won, had we been more clinical infront of the goal. but, you guys won, you have a good result before the second leg and, in our own stadium, we will show that we are twice the team you are...

And you, did what in the first half? You outplayed us 35 mins in the second half, nothing more than that.

the 1st half was a tie. none of the teams created much and it was like most knock out games, a "waiting game". in the 2nd we started to play and expose your weaknesses and we wer successful at that (socred a goals, another few chances) and that was exactly how you play an away game in a knock out round. we had a few chances to get the 2-1 lead, but even if it stayed 1-1 we would have achieved our goal. 1-2 is still an active reslut and we could progress with a 1-0 (our favorite score) but im sure we will score 3 goals. you guys might have a lucky goal but that wont help you

Why are you arguing with him? Benfica won the first leg that's it. Let him look however he wants it , the fact is they won. Now lets just wait for the second leg, and hope Juventus win and qualify. I dunt give a shit if we play badly or fantastic as long as it gets the job done. Winning is all that matters. The first leg result is irrelevant to the tie as of now.

Buffon should have done better with Garays headed goal. Why on earth use both hands to stop a header from close range is beyond me. But I'm not gonna bash "Il Capitano".

Visions of the early goal vs Bayern came to mind.

They didn't impress, but we didn't take advantage of that and we still lost.

I put it all against Bonucci. As a CB, you dun't just get muscled out that way. It was like girl standings against Garay.

Benfica were rubbish for 80 minutes yesterday, our only problem was we didn't punish them for it and gifted them a goal. I'm confident we can turn it around next week at home.

For all those counter attacks they failed to hit the target in the first half and did very little in the second half, home advantage spurred them on and we only have ourselves to blame for not killing them at home.

yeah, we can do much better than yesterday. i hope conte motivates them and we see a performance like chelsea last year, or Roma/Napoli this year (clinical infront of the goal)

Even if the score remained 1-1, you could bet your last penny that we'd play for a draw at home hoping to take what ever little chances we would create. It makes the tie the more interesting. The way I like it, going out and actually having a go and deservedly reaching that Final.

Exactly. That's what's wrong with yesterday's match. It's obviously not over, but we had the chance to practically close the tie and we let it slip away.

Putting aside Bonucci being a bungling oaf. Gigi still managed to get two hands onto the ball. It wasn't out of his reach.

Seriously.

I was watching the game in HD, many of the posters here sound like they watched it on a 20kb stream.

Marchisio had 2 great chances to score, a Licht cross and a long ball from Pogba which put him 1v1 with the keeper. On Another occasion his great run created a great chance for Pogba which was well saved.

Licht got behind the defence on at least a couple of occasions but his final ball was found a bit wanting. We had them under the pump for the majority of the second half yet they scored a goal from a momentary lapse in concentration. They did nothing, absolutely NOTHING in the second half and in fact looked completely clueless for the most part. We actually played really well for the majority of the match, bar the start, but our finishing really let us down.

This wasn't one of our typical nonchalant performances, it was a serious effort where we played some nice football away to a strong side. The only thing I will be critical of was bringing on Osvaldo, and I might add starting Vucinic to that. Otherwise, Conte got his tactics right and we played quite well. Such performances produce great results in most matches, this was just an unlucky result.
Once again

One of our better performances in Europe this season IMO. Plenty of factors against is, and yet we still got a vital away goal and have a good chance to progress next week.

I see this game as more of a glass half filled.

We have been quite "unlucky" in Europe on far to many occasions this season, i dont believe in coincidence tbh. I believe if a team is good enough it makes it's own luck and i just think we are definitely missing something as it cant be "unlucky" all the time?
