Sure. But Pogba's strengths aren't playmaking or defending. He's an offensive midfielder who should be free to roam the entire pitch. That's why he was a monster for us. He was easily one of the three players I've seen play live that most impressed me (the others being Del Piero and Hazard, Totti I've only seen play one poor game and 10 min last year), but he's a shadow of the player he was.
Agree. Raes was consistantly moaning about it aswel. But he has to remain deep for the balance

But it's not actually true. Pogba spent the entire second half of the match joining attacks, and playing near the Anderlecht box, and was constantly walking around up by the halfway line or jogging back slowly as Anderlecht would counter.

I've noticed it in the vast majority of games United plays. He has tons of freedom to roam forward.

He's a shockingly un-versatile player if he can't perform in his current role.

He has all the freedom to go forward that he had with us, as every time I watch them play he spends the majority of the match joining the attack... but the difference is that he is expected to return deeper, and to start out play from ManU box and defend back to the goal-line as well.

People saw him as a box-to-box CM here but he really wasn't and spent very little time back around our box. He isn't hard-working or tenacious enough to play that sort of game, to be effective over that bug an area of the field and it's showing. But he's also not quick enough, too poor in the penalty box, and slows down play too much to be a good CAM... so he's really only effective playing from just inside his own half to the edge of the opponents box, creating chances and helping build attacking plays. And he's clearly world class at that, one of the best in the world in that specific role, but without becoming better at finishing/final ball assists, or adding a much better defensive element to his game, there's no way he ever even sniffs the ballon d'or top 3.
