No, that's very unlikely. The 3rd placed team from Italy's group would most likely meet the winner of group D (probably Spain). But the combination of meeting Spain in the round of 16 and Poland/Switzerland in the quarter final sure as hell beats meeting Croatia in the round of 16 and Germany in the quarter final.

Yeah, i picked the obvious choices, Portugal might finish 2nd in their group, England too, 2nd placed team might end up facing the likes of Austria, Hungary, Island, Wales, Slovakia, Russia, Romania, Albania, Switzerland in the next round and in quarterfinals. Meanwhile the winner of the group plays Croatia/Spain and then Germany. Hopefully Poland can win their group now

You give France the chance to eliminate Germany or vice versa. This way Italy is likely to face both on their path to the final. Spain would be an easier opponent than these 2 in SF
