Very disappointing to see a close semi final decided by what was nothing more than a 10% penalty, and that is probably being kind. Home advantage counts a lot for things like this.

The way I see things rolling for England makes me think that this advantage will count in the end. They weren't impressive tonight and only dominated towards the end with better legs and depth, but they have the breaks. Wouldn't surprise me to see some random decision in the final again, and it's hard to chase this England around as they have a lot of young players and attacking threat to counter when leading.

The English are counting on this to happen.

But Kuipers is usually a very good ref.

I think they might be in for a surprise and will probably realise halfway through that they actually need to play football.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if Kuipers got 'sick' or somehow wouldn't be able to travel to England for the final game.

The Italians did well to travel back home to Florence. Had they stayed in England, half the covid-infected population in England would have been employed as room service, concierges, chefs, cooks, porters, waiters etc in the hotel where Italy was gonna be staying.

What tactics? They just run fast and put a 100 crosses in.

If Italy don't get drawn into a run and gun game, control the ball and pass around them with patience it is an easy win.

They all go back to defend and pass around patiently seriously I've never seen any England team play like this. Denmark moved into England's have, as soon as that happened you saw both Kane and sterling run back to fill the numbers in midfield. On the ball they'll just keep passing till they get a chance, surprisingly they rarely misplaced passes, Italy suffered against a possession based team already. England might not have the Spanish technique but they are certainly better from the set pieces and in general closing down. Phillips totally dogged his way around, Denmark looked weak losing in one and one situations. Attacking wise we see atleast 6 players hovering in and out of the box, the cross over between sterling and Shaw is common, happened few times and don't forget their pace. Chiellini and Bonucci gonna struggle, as is Emerson. It's gonna be extremely tough.

In the games against Austria and Spain where Italy struggled a bit the opponent pressed them pretty high. I'm not sure England is the kind of team to press high so that might suit Italy a bit better. Italy is a really dangerous team if you just let them get comfortable with the ball.

Agreed - Bonucci and Chiellini are my biggest concerns against the pace England have, Saka and sterling will cause issues and then they have Foden and Sancho on the bench when legs tire if needed.

We’ve got to get a strangle hold on possession and put them under pressure defensively. Immobile will need to have his first good game of the tournament

I think how well England do in the final depends on how many free-kicks the referee is going to give for falling down in dangerous areas under pretty much any challenge. Saka, Sterling and Kane did it all game today. But of course it is just smart play when England do it because the culture doesn't allow them to roll around. From those positions I can see England hurting Italy, because Bonucci can't jump, and Italy don't have a tall team like Denmark.

Italy do have the better midfield and defense.

Kane is superior to both Belotti and Immobile though, and is likely the one area where England have the upper edge.

Italy needs Lazio Immobile to show up, not this braindead, unable to finish anything Azzurri Immobile. If Immobile has his shooting boots on, Italy wins this easy, if he doesn’t, it’s a toss-up
