Magnificent performance

Laughable how some have tried to discredit this team. Modern, attacking, high energy, high pressing football full of passion but not forgotten the old school gamesmanship, a perfect mix.

Add a true striker to this team and they would be a top side. Unfortunately it holds them back.

Really sad for Spinazzola.

Lukaku also found out against a decent side once again.

Anything done by Italy from here on out is gained, no one expected us to go this far it's a young team without stars. Really sets us up for the world cup.
This. I really didn't expect this italy side to get much further than playing a few good games in the group stage.

True. But sadly I’m not sure if we saw the last good football left in this tournament.

This was an entertaining match. Donnarummadumma was forced into multiple good saves from the start, but Italy pushed back. Some great one-on-one play with frequent ping-ponging in possession between players in midfield.

Italy was clearly the better side, though. And if some gob-mouthed Englishman says “catenaccio” one more time like it’s still 1962, I’m gonna punch him in the face. This side pressed for more with the lead against Belgium.

Pretty remarkable. Lack of stars. Played virtually without a CF. Worse team on paper overall.

Chiello - Bonucci with Donnarumma made the difference especially in that second half.

Bringing in Belotti shows the lack of depth. Don't know heaps about Emerson but I'm told he's another attacking fullback. I'm a self-confessed Calabria fan boy but would have thought he'd be a more defensive and more versatile option. Good for moments like that.

Shame. Uphill battle for us without Eden and and injured KDB. Very good game from Doku. With a bit of luck we could have made it.

All in all Italy are the best side in this tournament. And by quite a margin.

But with Spinazzola gone I don't believe they'll win it.

People discredited Belgium in 2018, but we were brilliant then. It happens.
