Donadoni is still class when compared to Domenech.

Advantage: Italy
I totally agree.:agree: .

Domenech is a one of the worse coach out there. He was damm lucky in the finals that Zidane and Viera hit the magical touch when it mattered (which both of them failed to do for almost a year) and were so close to being knocked out the group stage against South Korea and Switzerland.

Frey & Mexes?:disagree: , Domenech has a taste in players that make Alberto Zach looks like he knows a thing or two.
Boumsong is a not French NT good or decent journeymen Saha should not start over worldclass poacher like Trez. As for consistently playing Bartez? I rest my case.

I think the key for Donadoni is to play 5 man midfield and try to battle it out, and try to use a lot width, especially down on the right hand side. France's left is suspicious at best, and I feel the penetration of Marchionni can really break the balance of the team. Up front, Italia is probably going to give more possession to the opposition so somebody who has power and ability to hold the ball is ideal for this match. In another words, Gila should start over Pippo up front, as he is so good at using all his physique to protect the ball and link up with midfield.

Buffon - Zambrotta, Canna, Barzagli, Grosso - DeRossi, Pirlo, Perotta - Cassano, Marchionni - Gila would be the team for me.

Is Buffon selected for this match?

france under domenech has become too defensive...he has broken up the henry-trez partnership which has been devastating...les bleus no longer play "champagne football"...hope they r more attacking against a new italy team...otherwise it will be a boring game with both teams playing defensive football

italy will need big balls to overcome france. the stadium atmosphere, banners should be very hostile. and we need pirlo and gatuzo to play a good match, what they didn't manage to do on saturday..

damn this guy has some balls

Domenech blasts 'scandalous' Gallas claims

Coach Raymond Domenech has waded into the row between Chelsea and their former player William Gallas by revealing the French camp were laughing about the Premiership champions.

Chelsea took the unprecedented step of issuing a statement that alleged Gallas had threatened to score an own goal if he was selected for their opening game of the season against Manchester City.

The west Londoners also insisted that Gallas told them he would get himself sent off or make deliberate mistakes and had twice refused to play for the club while in a dispute over his future at Stamford Bridge.

The French defender, currently preparing for tomorrow night's Euro 2008 qualifier against Italy, has since rejected their accusations and labelled Chelsea as `lacking class'. lacking class? this guy is nuts.

Now Domenech, already at odds with the English club over his selection of Chelsea's veteran midfielder Claude Makelele, has defender his central defender by insisting that Gallas, sold to Arsenal on transfer deadline day, is not a `traitor'.

Domenech declared: 'William Gallas is not a traitor! Thinking Gallas could betray his team-mates is scandalous.

'I am disappointed that people could think or suppose that. William proved in the past and today that he is a true defender, it is scandalous thinking that of him.

'I am happy because I do nothing in this case, it is a problem between Arsenal and Chelsea but I can say we burst out laughing with William.

'It was funny to see that from Chelsea. William is not disturbed by that. He trained as a great champion.'

Gallas is unlikely to face any action from the Football Association after allegedly threatening to score in his own net.

The allegations, if substantiated, could have put the French defender in line for a Football Association charge of bringing the game into disrepute but the FA played down suggestions they would become involved in an issue that would be difficult to prove either way.

Gallas is alleged to have made his threat in a meeting with Mourinho and in front of other witnesses and while Chelsea have made this public, the champions are not planning to supply the FA with any statements from individuals.

I don't think Marchionni is expected to start against France.

Buffon; Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Barzagli, Grosso; Semioli, Pirlo, Gattuso, Perrotta; Cassano; Gilardino

I think that lineup is pretty much set.

actually i think marchionni should start the france game. If the azzuri dont use the flanks well then france will just walk all over them.

And i think pippo will start over gila.

donadoni is preparing for the loss by saying that this match is not that important and it will not decide who will qualify
