Somehow the variety in the EL reminds me of the old cups in Europe. The CL has the same teams every year and the crowd from each of the big leagues makes it lose a bit of its charm. It's only a monster tournament with monster ads and monster money.

Exactly my feelings, here. I like the variety of teams from all across Europe playing in the EL. (+rep)

It's actually fun these kinds of matches when some southerners come to play football in freezing conditions, especially when most of the times they're the better team. We won home against Turkey in 2003, Lech made their history against Juve and now Braga. Makes football more interesting.

well that champions cup, cuz that was the name back then was only for the winner of the championship...i wasn't born but steaua won the cup in that format against the biggest chokers. They choked in Spain and Juan Carlos was watching... There weren't groups only 2 legs of eliminatory games, no away goal. But enough with the history. It would be interesting to see that again, i'll give you that (but that would mean i would see my beloved Juve in ucl in 2015)
