You can just picture how it all pans out, neither set of fans is going to back down or be intimidated and Naples is hardly a forgiving place. It seems the first one was a stabbing and the second one was an injury after sets of fans threw bottles at each other. If it was me going into Naples in this situation I'd keep my head down, but that's not how English fans travel. It doesn't excuse the violence at all but it's inevitable when fans become spread out over the city. It's the same in Rome. These southerners :sergio:
Indeed. Even though I'm a Juventus fan even in Turin I keep level headed and still be cautious of where I go. English fans are told where not to go yet still insist on going to these places then wonder why there is trouble. Ala United vs Roma, Roman police told United fans to stay away from the bridge near the stadium and go the otherway, three United fans ignore them and go across the bridge and get into trouble and violence starts.

In no way am I condoning stabbing the Liverpool fans and I hope they're ok, but I've seen the English abroad and how they act towards that countrys culture and values and it's embarrassing to be English at times.

One SOB once stole 20 eur from me in Spain. I never lost my mind the way I did back then. We were only 3 and the English were like 20-25. We were gonna be destroyed to pieces for sure, but I kept insisting on arguing and fighting.
The hotel security had to throw the three of us out. :D

It had nothing to do with football though. The English were there for a bachelor party and they were drunk as hell.
Later we made friends with most of them. It was close before ManU-Chelsea CL final and they all supported ManU.

Oh, and one of them was dressed like a woman
Is that a tradition or something? Was he acting as a bride or were they simply joking?

I thought it was only the Romans (Lazio and Roma lads) who used knives?

But anyway, the return game in Liverpool is gonna fucking kick off big time. Apparently 2,000 Napoli fans will be travelling...they will smash that city up I think.

No, also in other southern areas. It's called puncicate in Rome, they don't stab you to kill or seriously hurt you they stab you in the ass because by law you cannot be tried for attempted murder or their version of GBH, it doesn't even pass as assault in many cases. I remember the Krays used to do it in London as the ruling was similar then in the UK, not sure about it now. It's more of a 'tag' than anything else, but police should have more numbers about. However Liverpool fans seem to be all over the city, rather than focused as most fans would, only now have consular assistance started directing them to areas.

Liverpool fans attacked in Naples

Three Liverpool fans are in hospital after two separate incidents in Naples ahead of this evening's Europa League clash at the San Paolo.

A report from the Naples police claims two Englishmen were stabbed, one multiple times, the other suffering a head injury after they were set upon by a group of men armed with sticks and knives on Corso Umberto.

Both have been taken to the Loreto Mare hospital in Naples with Italian news agency ANSA claiming that they will be recovering there for up to 10 days.

A third man suffered a similar fate on Via Mezzocannone, suffering wounds to his right thigh.

There are also reports that a family of three was attacked in a restaurant.

Fucking cowards if that's true. Disgusting.

I mean it's not like stabbing people is usually a good thing to do, but attacking families..

Yeah, if rivals fans want to tango then that's up to them, but I don't see why a family would be targeted.

Lets hope that there won't be trouble at the stadium. I'm not being selfish and I'm disgusted of what's happening there right now, but lets not make it worse please. Lets not get Italian teams banned from Europe.

Ah ok, cheers for that! Yeah I heard stories of Roma hooligans driving around on scooters and stabbing rival fans (in the ass)...crazy bastards.

Will you expect a big response from the Liverpool fans in Liverpool, or the CCTV cameras everywhere and heavy police presence in England prevent similar incidents from happening?

Yeah, anything now is a police issue but if there is trouble inside the San Paolo then it becomes a football and UEFA issue and Italy must be near the edge based on some incidents from the past in stadiums (Roma, Juventus). It's always bloody English fans involved though, it can't be coincidence every time, something happens.
