I was just aiming at the 'you have fine taste in players' comments, as if you both admired players who are usually under the radar. There's definitely nothing wrong with enjoying great players, especially those two.

Just to join in, I'd take Villa over Torres aswell.

Those two would certainly help, but wouldn't stop us from conceding. ;)

Certainly true, but we should be looking to sign a Striker of their caliber this summer. Villa at 35 million still leaves us alot of geld to play with the defence.

I missed the match saw we lost on a red card and two pens.

Can anyone give me an unbiased general overview?
I'll give it ago:-

Liverpool got the early goal and you looked under absolutly no pressure at all for the first 20 minutes until the sending off which was the correct decision but Luisao should of gone aswell in my opinion. Then the gaps started to appear in your team as expected, they built a head of steam up and started to look more dangerous, creating the odd chance which they should of scored atleast 1. Insua was getting pulled all over the place after Babel got sent off because nobody actually wen't back to help him tactical error from Benitez on this part. Gerrard should of been dropped back into the midfield to make it a 4-4-1 formation to offer defensive support. Half time came and the second half begun in the same fashion as the first Benfica on the front foot creating chances and failing to convert which could be their undoing in the second leg. Then Torres had a glorious chance to make it 2-1 you would bet your house on him scoring but he looked heavy legged due to all the running he had done. Seemed like you would hold on for a 1-1 which would of been a good result all things considered but they got the second goal.

It could of been worse for Liverpool but it could of been better if Torres would of scored. I think Benfica edged in possession but that was to be expected. I did not watch the full game so this might sound abit hazzy but of what I saw this is what happened.

Pool lost because of 3 idiotic unreasonable acts that could have easily been avoided.

It started with Babel's red card.... followed by a really stupid foul for god knows why by insua. It then ended with another stupid penalty resulting from a hand ball that is as stupid as chelsea's (against Juve) by Carragher.

I hope rafa sticks a pole up their asses because they foolishly and immaturely threw away the game. Especially carragher who should be mature to not do such silly acts... not to mention the karate kick he gave to a benfica player in the box that the ref havent seen.

Liverpool played expansive football when in possession but ineffectively, when they had lost the ball they played with around 10men behind the ball (before Babel, 9 afterwards) and let Benfica pass it around a bit. They gave two clear penalties away, one for a foul the other a handball. Benfica were absolutely woeful, they couldn't pass or shoot propperly the whole game, Di Mari et al didn't look like world class player, Gerrard for Liverpool was the only one who trully bothered to show up (maybe Agger as well). Overall it was a case of Negative +Brief Counter-attacking Football (Liverpool) vs. poor 'star-struck' football (Benfica).

Synopsis: A fair result, a poor game.

Alot of geld? I like it. :D

IF our transfer budget allows it, which I somehow doubt, we should certainly aim for the best, I agree.

If I rate someone a 0/10, does that still qualify as "rating" a player?
Stupid question thread is that way mate ->
