Gent aren't as bad as you make them out to be. Roma should win this, but as the HT score suggests, it won't be that easy. I don't rate Roma at all this season, they'll struggle to make the top 7.
I think the loss of Ruiz (only to be replaced by De Smet) will make them loose many points, and as you see, the HT result doesn't make up for the 90 min result, 3-1.

The defeat wasn't a surprise, but the manner of it was disappointing.

We haven't reaplaced players we lost, we have a few injuries (we have two fit defenders right now), the players are adjusting to the new coach's system and we weren't as fit/sharp as them, since it was our first game.

If the game had been played in a months time, we would have had a good chance.

I'm not that fussed anyway. Given how small our squad is going to be this season, we would have had no chance of a decent league campaign if we'd had a European run.

So long as Scottish teams keep having to play qualifiers pre-season against teams who are mid-season, there are going to be problems.

it was rather naive of him to go on the offensive in the first leg and leave you wide open at the back
We didn't play particularly offensively in the first game.
