Why I think Essien edges Xavi is because he's a football player where Xavi is a midfielder. I think Essien is a more educated footballer where Xavi has the better moves but these moves serve him only as a midfielder. Essien can excel in almost any position on the pitch.

I was certain he broke his leg. Scholes is horrific when it comes to tackling. He was sent off for a tackle against Roma last season which was pretty brutal. I think Man Utd should toss the old guys out of their team now.

I doubt Chelsea would ever let him go. That would be foolish. Barca also have some decent defensive minded mids in Yaya and Keita. As for a CB I dont think they need that either cuz they have MArquez, Pujol, Pique and Milito (who has missed the whole season and will be back for next)

the only positions they need to cover are LB and a CF for when Eto or Henry are not fit. Eidur sucks and Krkic can't really lead the forward line himself.
