Here's a nice little statistic for Serie A clubs in the knockout rounds of the Champions League since 2007-2008:

# of matches: 11
# of times held to a clean sheet: 9

And here's a nice little statistic for how they are faring in these rounds against English competition:

# of knockout round matches against EPL clubs: 9
# of times held to a clean sheet by an EPL club: 9

H-null: There is no relationship between football teams representing the EPL and exit from the Champions League by teams representing the Serie A.

That was a solid performance by your boys E, i thought you came to the match with a gameplan, and it worked to perfection. You nullified Real's threat by nullifying the only player Real have who could make a difference. I thought Aurelio was the man of the match, closely followed by Skrtel who had Raul in his back pocket. The jew scored the winning goal, but other than that he was poor. Riera didn't do too well either, but he worked hard and tracked back enough for him to be forgiven for his poor showing offensively. Torres on the other hand was roughed out of the game by Pepe and Canna. Other than that the rest of your boys all did well imo.

Being a fan of Liverpool must be like having a friend who's an alcoholic. Some of the times you're looking to depend on him for something like a ride to the airport, and he never shows up. But whenever the Champions League comes around, it's like a kegger party -- and it's game on.

Ribery > Ronaldo.

At least for me, I'd pick Ribery ahead of Ronaldo for my team anyday.
Did you see Sporting-Munich? If the answer is no and I'm sure it is then watch the highlights and you would know what I'm talking about.

I didn't see the Sporting - Bayern match. But i've been watching Ribery for a long time. Ever since he moved to Marseille from Galatasaray. He has developed a lot over the years. 4 years ago, he was a talented winger that had temper problems and couldn't be relied on, now he's a world class winger that finishes games off, and he's a big match player.

That all being said, he is still nowhere near the level of Cristiano. Ronaldo is one of the most complete wingers i have ever seen. He is as influential as any player out there. He is better than Franck in most aspects of the game. I think people do not really appreciate what an athlete C.Ronaldo is. He is almost never rested for Man Utd's games, yet he always looks like he's in top shape. His stamina levels are out of this world. Another thing is, the fact that you can almost find no flaw in his game(that he is not a big game performer is just a myth). The guy can score, he can score with his left, with his right or with his head. His off the ball movement is brilliant, he does not need to dribble half the team to score his goals, as his runs behind the defense always offer his teammates the option of playing him through. He can score long rangers, he can score from free kicks, he can score in any way really.

Even in this season which is supposed to be a "bad season" for him, he has still finished games off for United. I never thought i'd say this, but yes i am saying it; i believe that C.Ronaldo is a little underrated sometimes.

Basically... that's actually spot on. I expect to get my heart broken against the likes of Hull and Man City, but CL games are always serious business.

I just want to say how classy it was of those Madrid clowns to injure Torres. Now Carragher and Skrtl need to break Raul in the next leg.

Italian sides were pretty much once again silenced by EPL teams. A lot of (biased) Forum members in denial should just be quiet from now on, accept the English dominance and stop hating on them.

Just accept the reality. Serie A sucks, despite being my N° 1 league.
