Come on, Andy, this is starting to get boring. It's not a rational discussion anyway. Xavi has his merits as a football player and so do the ones I named. It's starting to become a matter of taste and we know you can't discuss about taste or colours.

I was with the Zanetti part. Although his long ball really is better than Xavi's. But hey, Barcelona don't even need to play a long ball.

As for the others.. I do think there are quite a few players who can do what Xavi does. Fabregas would be just as good in that position.

But the major problem I have with Xavi is that people always go on and on about him. And MESSI is right there next to him.
I think you haven't read the Liga thread. 98.999 % of the posts there are about Messi. We were going on and on about Xavi here, because he was MOM in the final.

Also, no you were not winding me up on the Zanetti part. That really is your opinion, Alen just gave you an escape route.

WTF

Like I said: I think Zanetti's better defensively and I also think he has a better long ball. Which are two MAJOR advantages for a central midfielder.

I don't do escape routes.

@DelPieroForLife: ask anyone, anyone in this forum who the most rational person is between the two of us and they'll say it's me.

Even if Zanetti is indeed better in those areas, Xavi is better in others when it comes to when the ball is at his feet. He's still the better overall player.

And Andries, you claimed that you could name ten players who can do just as good as Xavi. You need to name them if you truly believe what you wrote.

I named ten and you answered "maybe" or "not right now" to most of them. Not particularly convincing, Andy.

But honestly, I'm sick of this argument. I truly believe this is one of those things you can't rationally discuss. Especially when discussing a central midfielder, statistics don't say everything.

You're just being stubborn.

The numbers and accomplishments speak for themselves. Xavi is one of the best in the world. Period.

For someone who just claimed that Zanetti is a better central midfielder than Xavi, that's a pretty bold statement to make. Being objective is part of being rational, you most certainly are not objective.
