Unexpected performance by our boys. You have to give credit where its due.

Apart from Bentdner, all our players had a good game. We dominated their midfield, which was a direct consequence of them keeping their possesion players on the bench(Aquilani, Pizarro) and Denilson and Diaby playing one of their best games in a while. We should have finished Roma off when they were there for the taking, Bentdner missing two golden chances and Eboue missing another. We lost domination of midfield when Pizarro was introduced, and we lost our drive and force when Diaby was forced out.

Roma are a tough team at home, but with a 1-0 win at home, a couple of important players back for the second leg and De Rossi suspended i am feeling much more confident. All i wanted out of this match was not to concede, and we did just that, so i'm proud of our boys.

My player ratings.

Almunia 7: Looked extremely confident and made a brilliant save from Motta's shot in the first half.

Sagna 7.5: Was lively and active, his overlapping runs gave us another option, his crosses were mostly dangerous and his defending was decent enough.

Toure 7: Defended well and kept Julio Baptista fairly quiet for this one.

Gallas 7.5: He's been brilliant lately and he was brilliant yet again, mopped up well and gave Totti a hard time, when he's on form he is close to being world class.

Clichy 7.5: Much better from him today, he hasn't had a good game in ages, but today he looked confident and assured. Did well attacking wise too.

Denilson 7.5: Intercepted a lot of balls, and did well to spray the ball around. Maybe this is the Denilson Arsene sees in training.

Diaby 8: He was one of our brightest sparks, took the ball forward with drive and force, if his decision making was a bit better, he would have destroyed Roma today. No complaints though, he had a brilliant game

Eboue 6.5: Was lively, active and motivated. His runs and movement created space for us today, but he ended up losing the ball too many times for my liking.

Nasri 8: Looked more comfortable playing in the hole today. He was our most dangerous player today, offering creativity and attacking threat.

Bentdner 5: Missed too many chances due to his touch, he's got the touch of a rapist, and he looked shaken after missing so many chances. Heres hoping he doesn't start for the second leg

RVP 7: Scored our goal, and his movement was decent overall. He didn't influence the game enough, and i was hoping he'd ask for the ball more.
Good ratings from what I saw: a bit high for Nasri and very harsh on Bendtnar. 5,1 at the least.

I share the same opinion as some of the forum members here in that i hope to see all english teams crash and burn sooner rather than later. Looking at inter today, really makes me wonder.. how on earth are they on top of the serie A? Man scum outclassed them in first half and really inter never or hardly caused any problems in the second half. Mourinho must be wondering why he joined splinter :D:.

Anyway that aside i hope inter somehow win in the return leg all be it flukely (if that was a word). I would like to mention though that Santon played really well for an 18 year old he alongside zanetti, chivu and julio cesar was one of the best players for Inter. Of course the rest were laughable and the night just couldnt get any better thanks to ibrahimovic's howlers :howler:

For the sake of Italian football its good to see Young Santon standing up to the task of handling cristiano ronaldo (all be it usually there were two people on him).

As for the Arsenal Roma match, this really was always going to go one way for me. Roma in my opinion have no chance, wenger always gets the best out of his kids when it really matters.

In saying that I couldn't feel any more confident on tomorrow to show the rest of Italy on how it should really be done (I hope). Forza Juve.

The highlights are starting later so i'll pay close attention to your maybe biased ratings:agree: Joke!
You might be right there. But those ratings are so high, because you don't normally expect such mediocre players to give such good performances. If it were Cesc, Rosicky etc giving the same performances i probably would have given them 6's and 7's at most.

Fair enough.

Are you able to watch the game on TV?I'd stay at home then rather than going to the disgusting and annoying Inter pub.
Yes, I have all games on TV but it was fun watching Inter fans disappointed. It would have been better had Manchester scored but bloody Cesar didn't fail.

The best moment in the match :lol2: Figo and Mourinho should have got cards as well.

Lol whats wrong with Muntari...
Muntari.

Now joking aside, that was one hell of a football match. I couldn't tell which team was more disciplined, maybe Manchester edged Inter in the first half but it got even again in the second.

I think Evra won the first duel against Maicon, he was Manchester's best player in my opinion. JC was Inter's best, damn the saves he made were miraculous.

We love football, not the idea of loving a football team.
No (obviously subtly isn't your strong point), we are communicating about a game not involving Juventus, did you notice the lack of Juventus players or Ranieri?

Football is not in your waters and it shows: you are a mock-fan.
You are one of the worst communicators on the forum. And yes, it shows.

I agree Forza Platini. However no matter how much we deny it they remain 'italian'.. or atleast their ancestral roots are and that's what bears a significance on the image of italian football abroad and of course coefficients. If you wanna tell an english fan or a spanish fan that seria A is the best league in the world.. then you need to proove to them in CL. As much as I hate Inter, my hate for man utd and english football is deeper but that might be significant to the fact that I am from england and I got to put up with constant nonsense on how superior EPL is to its counterpart.

wow, Inter really got away with it in the first half today! They deserve to go out on that alone. pathetic. I know that they improved, but surely they couldn't have played worse than the first half! Nice job arsenal btw
