Inter's Suazo gets one-game ban

The FC Internazionale Milano forward David Suazo has been banned by UEFA for one match following his dismissal in the Italian club's UEFA Champions League fixture against PSV Eindhoven in Milan on 2 October.

Honduran international Suazo was shown the red card in the closing moments of the Group G encounter, and the 28-year-old will miss Inter's next UEFA Champions League outing against PFC CSKA Moskva in Russia on 23 October. The Nerazzurri defeated PSV 2-0, with two goals from Zlatan Ibrahimović securing their first points of the group stage.

'Innocent' Suazo's UEFA ban

Inter have reacted angrily after UEFA handed David Suazo a one-match ban despite video evidence suggesting he did not elbow a PSV player.

The Honduras striker was sent off after the final whistle of the 2-0 Champions League victory over PSV Eindhoven when a linesman maintained Suazo had elbowed Carlos Salcido.

Inter lodged an appeal against the red card, as video evidence seemed to show the two players had merely bumped heads.

“The risk was a three-match ban if it had been adjudged a violent act,” explained President Massimo Moratti.

“They have discovered that nothing happened and yet their rules still want them to inflict at least a single suspension.

“I think it would show far more common sense to admit it was a mistake and end it there. In any case, I am sorry for Suazo and he will get the opportunity to play in Serie A.”

Former Cagliari hitman Suazo will be suspended for the trip to CSKA Moscow on Tuesday October 23.

This was not Inter’s only disciplinary problem today, as the Curva Nord will be closed down for the October 31 match with Genoa for offensive banners aimed at visiting Napoli fans.

again.......(though i hate rangers and celtic) for celtic it was pretty much a first offense, roma had history of crowd trouble. you have to looka t the wider picture and see UEFA are pretty much bottle merchanst when it comes to stamping down on this sort of thing, they usually give a token fine, then give a large fine and warning, then they shut the stadium.

roma were forewarned about their fans conduct before that incident as were inter, they can have no complaints
